Question Flower or gemstone names that could be used for a boy?

We're trying to find (for no particular reason BTW) some flower or gemstone names that could be used for a boy?

All we can seem to find is Nalin, Ione and Aven for the flowers, and Jasper for the gemstone.

How would you say Ione? It's supposed to be eye-ohn (Ione). Apparently it's a girls name too!

If you saw these names written, would you think boy? Look, I'm not one to stick to stereotypes, but I figure life will be weird enough socially with two mums, I don't want to give him what could be seen as a girls name too!

Oh, and I also like Stone. What do you think? Shel thinks it's ridiculous

I once knew a little boy called malachi- and jett is a stone too.

    no idea on that pronunciation!

eta- Ive seen Gem as a boys name too. will come back when Ive thought a bit more, ooh jade is a boy/girl name too.
Morgan- from morganite...another boys name not really a gemstone is Oren (like in never ending the story?)

I dunno, I see Ione as a girls name because of the actress Ione Skye.

I'll have to have a think.....

    hmmm... tough one,

    There's a flower "sweet William"

also "kennedia" (Ken or Kenny maybe)

    or "Laurel"

There's a gem stone "Alexandrite" (it's pretty cool changes colours). So you go Alex maybe?
Or "Morganite" (that's a pink stone), so maybe Morgan?

Nothing sounding too great to me sorry not much help.

Heath, Rowan, Reed, Orris, Basil...not necessarily 'flowery' but I guess would do at a stretch.

I would pronounce Ione as "Ee-Yona" so no I don't think that's so suited for a boy.

Hmmm gemstones - what about "Gem"? I knew a boy called Jade but that was about 25 years ago, before it became popular for girls.

also "kennedia" (Ken or Kenny maybe)

    or "Laurel"
too funny i would have been Kenton (after my Dad Kenneth) if i was a boy but as a girl got a name that sounds very similar to Laurel

Leesa i would have pronounced Ione just as you did (not a big fan of it myself but like Aven)

Jem Finch is a character in 'To Kill A Mockingbird" - it's a nickname I think.

Gem names according to our name book: Arden, Casper, Cephas, Crisiant, Dar, Flint, Gaso, Gasper, Jashar, Kiton, Leshem, Mica, Onyx, Ratan Shovai, Tiki, Toakase, Trai

I left out the ones that I think sounded feminine. Nothing is suggested for flower names, but what about just plant names? You might find more masculine sounds there.

I really like the word Stone, and even Stoney but I don't think you'd be doing any favours using it for a name - the world isn't innocent enough I don't think LOL
