I dunno, I see Ione as a girls name because of the actress Ione Skye.

I'll have to have a think.....

    hmmm... tough one,

    There's a flower "sweet William"

also "kennedia" (Ken or Kenny maybe)

    or "Laurel"

There's a gem stone "Alexandrite" (it's pretty cool changes colours). So you go Alex maybe?
Or "Morganite" (that's a pink stone), so maybe Morgan?

Nothing sounding too great to me sorry not much help.

Errrr, wait til his first love interest tells their parents his name.

Jett is a stone, Flint? Micah? Morion? Xenotime?

For flowers this is a list I googled.

Aciano ... "The blue bottle flower."

    Crisanto ... "Gold flower." ... [4]

    Fiorello ... "Little flower." ...

    Florent ... "In flower." ... [9]

    Florian ... "Flower." ... [3]

Gentian Flower name: the gentian was named after an ancient king of Illyria (now coastal Croatia) ... [3]

Hyacinthe ... A flower name that was originally a male name ... [3]

Jacinto ... Masculine form of the Greek flower name Hyacinth. [3]

Nalin ... a beautiful flower that flourishes in muddy waters ... [1]

Plantagenet ... Broom is an English flower ... (I think this one sounds a tad sci fi)

OOOO, I really like Nalin. Hmmmm, might be good if I have a boy next

I've heard of a boy called Jem too...isn't he from Anne of Green Gables?

There are also names that mean flower, like Florian.
    Jonquil?

I don't know about gemstones, but for just general natural stones and trees, there are quite a few.
Sterling, Flint, Alder, Willow, Oleander, Thorne, Sage, Rowan, Forrest, Moss, Heath, Leaf/Leif.

Heath, Rowan, Reed, Orris, Basil...not necessarily 'flowery' but I guess would do at a stretch.

I would pronounce Ione as "Ee-Yona" so no I don't think that's so suited for a boy.

Hmmm gemstones - what about "Gem"? I knew a boy called Jade but that was about 25 years ago, before it became popular for girls.

also "kennedia" (Ken or Kenny maybe)

    or "Laurel"
too funny i would have been Kenton (after my Dad Kenneth) if i was a boy but as a girl got a name that sounds very similar to Laurel

Leesa i would have pronounced Ione just as you did (not a big fan of it myself but like Aven)

I really like Flint, it's got a nice strong sound to it. I personally would steer away from any of the names that start with Flo... as I think it sounds a bit feminine. Good luck x
