I posted in here a couple of weeks ago to get opinions on the names we have chosen. I've decided I'm quite happy with what we picked for a boy, but not so sure about the girl's choice. The name we had chosen was T a h l i a - I'm not happy about all the 'a' sounds once it's combined with Anna.
I haven't told DH that I'm wavering yet, as I wanted to come up with some alternatives to give to him. We did have a few others on the short list, but I'm not really sure about those either.
So, has anyone got any ideas for a slightly unusual, but not way out there, name that would go with Anna as a middle name? (Anna is after my grandmother, who passed away recently.)
Hey great choice with tahlia, my dd daughter is tahlia!! We call her tahli for short and in the beginning was actually going to call her that. So Tahli Anne is nice. We also liked..
Remy
Holly
Scarlett
Goodluck with your choice
I think it sounds best with a first name that doesn't end with an A sound.
Charlotte Anna
Dorothy Anna
Gillian Anna
Isabelle Anna
Jane Anna
June Anna
Katherine Anna
Margaret Anna
Persephone Anna
Rachel Anna
Stephanie Anna
Violet Anna
Tahli is a nice alternative!! But I also think Tahlia sounds fine. Maybe you've said it too many times and it's starting to sound odd!! But I know if you're not happy there's no point using the name, but from another point of view, I think it sounds good! xo
I also love Tahlia- and agree that Tahli/Tahlie is a sweet alternative. Otherwise, you could perhaps consider Tahlia Anne, instead of Anna? That way you are still using the name, but a slightly modified form.
I just don't think it is worth compromising on a first name you both like, for the sake of a middle name. They only appear on legal documents, afterall, and are hardly verbalised in everyday life.
Otherwise, some suggestions for you;
Arielle Anna (If you don't mind 2 'a' names)
Shanelle Anna
Jenae Anna
Jacelyn Anna (Jay-se-lyn)
Mahlie Anna (Like Tahlie!)
Madeley Anna
Shaylie Anna
Shiane Anna
Tamsyn/Tamsin Anna
Tamlyn Anna
Taelyn Anna
I threw a few T names in there incase you like them.....
I have such a huge girls name list, but I didn't realise how many ended with an 'ay' or 'uh' sound until I did this post!
My #3 is called Cari-Anna (as in CARi not Carrie)
My name is Mary-Anne, my mum's is Anne and we wanted to incorporate that into it with a modern twist. The Cari comes from Mum's aunt Corrie and deceased brother Ari.
BTW, her middle name is Josephine.
I know your dilemma! When DD was growing we liked Maeve but her surname begins with F so it sounded like "may" when you ran them together and i used to have a horse called may (who was sweet but i wouldn't name a kid after her!). We ended up calling her something totally different.
I like Tahli Anna, but does it have to be a middle name? How about Tahlianna? Like Marianna?
I like names with a balanced flow, so if a middle name has 2 syllables i like 1 or 3 for the first name. My DD's rhythm is 2, 3, 1.
Thanks for all your suggestions girls. You've come up with some good ideas but, to be honest, none that I like as much as our original choice - so maybe that is the name that's meant to be! I'll have to think it over and talk to DH I think. We've still got a couple of months to decide.
