I agree, go with a name you love if it is the absolute stand out.
Although I really wanted to avoid a popular name as I didn't like the idea of my DD being one of many similar named kids in her class (as a teacher I used to hate having to say to children, Lauren B this or Lauren W that... it just feels so impersonal to not be able to use their name) But this is just my opinion. In the end I really really loved a particular name and went with it only to find it turn up for the first time on the most popular list for our State
. Ah well! I am happy with it and we have tweaked it a little anyway with a nickname variation!
Anyway... point is, go for it. (and if you are interested you can look up the list of 10, 20 or 50 most popular names for kids registered with the office of Births, Deaths and Marriages for each year going back eons. It might give you a real idea of how popular Zoe is at the moment and in the last years... just google "popular names [your state]" or "births deaths marriages popular names")
