Have you considered changing the pronunciation of Rhea (re-ah) to Ray-ah? That would stop the "rear" association and its really pretty i think.

Since you like the Rhea/Kiah type sounding names, what about Greer?

Katelyn, personally i wouldnt shorten, wouldnt even think about shortening it. But that said, someone somewhere is always going to find a way to shorten, pronounce or spell any name wrong, so if you love Katelyn, dont be put off by the fact it may get shortened from time to time, as has been mentioned by a pp, you can always correct them.

Ive got 5 girls and i lovvvvvvveeeeeee naming girls, its boys i find hard lol.

    Some suggestions:

    Ebony
    Odessa
Sapphire/Sapphyrah (which u could pronounce sapphire or saf fy rah)
    Brielle/Briella
    Soraya
    Serenity
    Tuscany
    Chardonnay
    Tia

I hope you find the name you are looking for

instead of making a new thread i decided i'd just revive this one...

We had decided on Eve!yn Brenda McM_____

but it just doesn't sound right with DP's last name and i don't think it "fits" so we're back to square one...

    on DP's list is
    Marissa
    Kara
    Anna
    Alyce

    My list
    Demi
    Elsa
    Emily

we both like Naomi still but just can't be bothered with the drama. The names on my list i don't think i'd ever use lol i think they're nice but they aren't clicking as "the one" IYKWIM... i'd still like to use Brenda as the middle name, but Dp seems to like names that end with "a" so sound funny with it.

So ladies hit me with all the shortish girls names you can think of... again lol

I'm a fan of Emily personally
I still think your mum would get over it if you picked Naomi too. But it sounds like you're not all that fussed on it anyway?
I also wouldn't worry too much about how the middle name sounds with the first as it is rarely used. Since you are having so much difficulty, it might be better to put that aside for now & just focus on choosing a first name you really like.

Some more suggestions (sorry if they have already been suggested):
    Amy
    Kylie
    Giselle/Jesselle
    Valerie
    Vivienne
    Daisy
    Hayley
    Ashlyn
    Nora
    Jillian/Gillian
    Miranda
    Mikayla
    Eden
    Philippa/Pippa
    Penelope/Penny
    Sienna
    Erin
    Tessa
    Maci/Macey
    Hazel
    Josie
    Ivy
    Celia
    Kelly
    Sasha
    Ayla
    Adelyn
    Erika

ETA: I forgot to mention that I like your choice of E v e l y n. I had that on my list for DD.

I too was like you and didnt want my children's names to be shortened. I chose their name and that is what they will be called.
Our little girl is Br@@ke $ienn@ M and she mostly gets called by that but will get Br@@kie on occasion.
If No. 2 was a girl he was going to be Leah Isabelle.

    Others we considered were:
    Jade Isabella
    Grace Charlotte
    Georgia Hope

    Hope that helps

I like Greer, what about greta?

I know s rhea who is ray-ah not ree-ah and I prefer that.

Naomi is a.great name too though but we do get shortened to nai though if that makes a diffetence.

I love Emily too, it was on our list if we were to have another girl. Though it would likely get shortened to Em or Emmy (Which I think is a nice name too!). What about Lily, or Lillian. DD is Lily and that's all I call her, it seems that she might miss out on her name being shortened to Lil, though I don't necessarily mind if it is! i think if you set the standard that *THIS* is her name, people will follow suit.

    How about-

    Sarah
    Lauren
    Kate
    Paige
    Zoe
    Greta
    Laura
    Ava
    Paige
    Brooke
    Isla
    Erin
    Eden
    Eve/Eva
    Bryce
    Beth

haha i'll let you know how we go, i'm betting she'll lose it and i know that sounds like i'm over doing it but honestly she'll make it out to be that i'm doing it because it's her "mortal enemy" and i'm doing it just to hurt her... but honestly can't be bothered trying to please people with our name choice. There's a small chance she'll act like a mature adult (and just complain to my big sister behind my back) but i doubt it

Honestly my friend hated me for naming DD4 Sophie (her ex left her for a girl called Sophie) but now she only associates the name with my DD. She'll come around

I keep thinking about this thread. You mum is bugging me & I don't even know her! Maybe you could rename your mother "Batman". Who has a "mortal enemy" anyway? Do they duel? I'm kind of picturing a couple of middle aged ladies (like Irene from H&A) batting at each other with handbags or walking sticks.

seriously thanks for that post! No they haven't even SEEN each other in close to 10 years but still every time she hears the name or she gets mentioned in conversation we have to sit through the "mortal enemy" tale of how it all happened... she sure knows how to hold a grudge

RockingBaker - Thanks, i hope so
