    Help!.. Girl names... WDYT?

DD2 is on the way and so far we don't really have a list... I would like to have a few in mind so we can decide after we see what she looks like!
I did want a name that meant 'promise' and found Arlea (Ah-lee-ah is how WE would say it :P) - that is the only name that DH and I have been able to agree on so far.
I like unusual names, and I have a thing at the moment for 'A' and 'L', and I like them pretty but not flowery.
DD1 has suggested 'Lyric' and we both laughed at it but it is starting to grow on us!

So, what do you think of these, and are there any other suggestions?
Middle name preferably Rose or Lee.

    Arlea (Arlea Rose)
    Layla (Layla Rose)
    Lyric (Lyric Rose)

    Hi Jasp,

My favourite would have to be Layla Rose....my DS goes to pre-school with a little boy called Lyric and i too had a bit of a chuckle when i fisrt heard it but like you said it does grow on you (although it would not be my choice of name).

Goodluck deciding on the right name for your little girl.

    Ooohhhh I love Lyric!!
Arlea I would say "Ar-lee" - how about Aaliyah, or even Arleah?

Arlea was on my girl name short list.. except I had it spelt Aaliyah. It's a gorgeous name and sounds great with Rose.

I like the Arlea (with the h) but even without it I like it the best, and with Rose it just sounds beautiful! Just playing around and thought Aleah?

I like Layla Rose. I know a couple of Arleah's and, I have to be honest, I'm not a fan.

Arlea is cute and I personally have never heard of it. I really like Layla too. Not a fan of Lyric but that is sweet that your DD suggested it!

I was watching on Austar last week the show 'Take home Chef' (with Aussie chef 'Curtis') and he cooked for a woman whom mentioned her DD's name is LYRIC ... hence that her husband is a musician & that's how her DD's name came about

    .... I must say i really love " ARLEA ", it's a gorgeous name

Aussie actress/singer " Totti Goldsmith's " (Olivia Newton-John's niece) daughter is LAYLA ROSE (I remember her DD had gorgeous blonde curls & i think big brown eyes, she would be about 10 now) !!!!

    I like Layla Rose.

I think Arlea will be called Ahr-lee all the time.
For the pronunciation you want I'd use Aaliyah,

be careful using a name that is hard to pronounce, my real name is not Poppy, no one can correctly prnounce my real name, except my parents, and it is so damn frustrating having to correct everyone all the time.

If you want a name that means promise why not call your daughter Promise Rose or even Rosalie Promise. Promise is a real name.

Thanks guys Great to get all that feedback.

As for the spelling of Arlea, it's one of the things I like about it (the way it looks ) - I know that's kind of silly but there you go...

Aaliyah, I think there is a singer with that name? and it may have a different meaning. there are so many variations on this that are so similar, and yet different...
I don't mind Arleah. Also Airleas (Air-lee) which is Irish for promise (just re-read the name book & Arlea is Celtic for pledge, basically same thing) but Airleas reminds me of Airlie Beach?

Also just found Alina, quite like Arlena..and someone the other day suggested Lila...I like Lola...and I actually like Poppy too I think Lyric is off the list, still can't decide but it has given us a bit to think about, thanks guys!
    Keep em coming
