    help - girls names needed

    Hi, thanks for reading.
    I'm after opinions and suggestions...

We have a little Ashton James and he's going to get a brother or sister. We're good for a boys name (are loving Marcus Alan atm) but are having trouble to find a special girls name.

The shortlist is Emily Grace and Elizabeth Joy (she would be Lizzy)

BUT DH has basically told me the only name he likes is Emily and he can't imagine any other name for his daughter. Now i like Emily but that's just it, like. I don't feel its the ONE for our bub. He'd probably capitulate to Elizabeth in the post birth haze (and his wife who just pushed that bubba out glaring at him lol). But i want a name we both love.

My other 'thing' against Emily is that it is a very popular name and I'd prefer a less popular but not strange name iykwim.

Other names that he's said he "likes" are Lily, Sophie, Amity (i love this one), Mila and Imogen. But i think he just said that to make me shut the baby name book and pipe down for 10 mins.

Anyhoo, after that rambling preamble. I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for a name that would go with Ashton (Ash) that is pretty but not overly 'out there'?

thanks for all your suggestions, each one will be read out to DH whether or not he likes it!

Can you both go through the baby book?

When we were thinking of a name for DD1, I went through the baby book, wrote down every name that I liked or loved, and then gave the list to DH for him to cross off names. If there weren't many on there, he was going to go through the book. Obviously any that we had on both our lists became names to be used.

Unfortunately, the only name we got from all that was DD1's middle name - Addisyn... lol... DH came up with Mehkelti all on his own

Oh - and we had a pretty big list for DD2 as well, but when she came out she didn't look like any of the names on there, so we thought we'd take a night to sleep on it, and then the name Eden came to mind when I was watching her sleep at 5am

So even if you don't agree now, it might just come to both of you after she gets here.

thanks arimeh. that's basically what i've done. read out every single name i've highlighted out of the baby book.... three times! and he still just says no to all of them (except that little list of maybes) and then ends it with Emily. "i really like emily" aarrrggghhh men!

Imogen is growing on me. Maybe if i start now, i'll have enough time to wear him down... lol. you KNOW what i mean ladies... just harp on about it til he becomes used to it and decides he loves it too! mmmmwwwaaaahhh

If one of these bubba's was going to be a girl we were going to have

Eliza Grace (so a short name like Emily and also a shortened version of Elizabeth)

As we will be having no more babies, I'm a bit sad I won't get to use is

Since it seems you might like 'E' names I'll mention a few that were on our list:

    Eva
    Evie
    Elise
    Emelia

    Good luck!
