Arlo is gorgeous! I like them both, but Arlo feels nice to say, and looks lovely written. I also think it's a good name for man or child.

Thanks everyone! Arlo is my preference but I am happy to consider DH's choice too. Arlo is a softer name, and suits the names of my other sons. I like that Otto is uncommon- I've only met one boy called Otto, and it was years ago. When DH first suggested it, I immediately thought of the book too, meow! My dad read that book to me as a child and now we read it ( the same copy) to my kids. When I told DD about the name Otto, her first thought was the book and an Otter!
I mentioned the name Otto to our MW because she is German (Otto is a German name meaning 'wealthy'). I wanted to know how the name is regarded in Germany. She said 'it's my dad's name!' She said that it is regarded as an 'old' name- but that doesnt worry me. While researching the name I discovered that the Nazi's called their plan to annexe Austria 'Operation Otto'. That is a big turn off. Would other people let this stop them from using a name?
I have only met one Arlo, but I know that a few celebs have children named Arlo. As I said, it is softer sounding than the TT sound in Otto - but that is what my DH likes about it. He does like Arlo too- and thinks it goes better with our bub's last name. However, he thinks that the fact our MW's dad is an Otto was a 'sign' to us that we should name our bub Otto.
    Thanks again for your comments.
