HELP!! Stuck on final name choice.....

    Dear Everyone

After 4+ years of TTC my partner and and I are expecting our second baby in the next week or so but are stuck on a final decision for a name! You'd think that after all we've been through this bit would be easy but there you go!

Our first (now 6 years old) is an amazing bright cheeky girl named Claudia and we had little trouble settling on that name or Ari if she was a boy. We're still happy with Ari if our second is a boy and are thinking about using Ari if she's a girl as well but for some reason I'm not 100% sure about that one. After a million hours of thinking about this we've chosen Hillary as an option if she's a girl but because they're so different we can't decide.

So..... help! Any feedback on these names would be great. Ari for a boy and Ari/Hillary for a girl. What do you all reckon? We look forward to any comments or suggestions.

I always loved Ari for a boy, but have never thought of it as a girls name - I actually really like it But I don't think it meshes well with Claudia. Hillary gels with Claudia really well. If it was a girl, I would choose Hillary.

You could use Ariel (that's our choice if we have a girl) Ariella, Arabella, Arianna etc and they can all be shortened to Ari. xo

That's a good idea! You could also spell it Ariahna to get the soft "a" sound. I like Ariahna better than Hillary. And Ari for a boy is great!

Congratulations on your second bub to be, you must be so excited!

Yep Ariana or Ariane could have Ari for short.
I prefer it as a boys name though. Hillary is gorgeous!

I think Hillary if it's a girl, Ari if it's a boy. I used to know an Ari but he spelt it "Arieh"
    All the best

I see Ari as a male name only, myself. I just can't see it on a girl, except as a nickname.

The feminine form is Aria, but a for related female name that it could be short, there's Arielle. Or Ariana/ Ariane/ Arianna as others suggested. I like any of those names better than Hillary or just plain Ari on a girl.

Also, I think Ariana would be pronounced like 'Ariahna' instead of Arianna, so no need to put that H in the name- that just makes it look misspelled.

I remember leading on youth camps when I was in my late teens and one of the campers was a delightful little girl named Ari. She was SUCH a sweetheart, so that has influenced me to love the name for a girl, LOL!
I think either Ari or Hillary would be beautiful names if your bub is a girl.
Welcome to BB anyway, and congrats on the imminent arrival!

I've only ever met one Ari. He was a boy, but coz its not a common name I think it would be ok for a girl.
I do think Hillary goes better with Claudia, but I'm not a fan of it.
Arianne or something similar would go great with Claudia & I still love Ari for short.
    Areila? (Ah-ree-la)

I like the suggestion of Ariannah or Ariella for a girl and shortening it to Ari.

I also really like Hillary and I think it goes beautifully with Claudia.

Ari for a boy is really cool!

What about Audrey for a girl?
It sounds a bit similar to Ari and has the traditional elements like Claudia.

Also- are you thining of having a 3rd... and let's say hypothetically- if it was a boy- would you wish that you'd kept the name Ari for him because you felt it was more masculine?

Just thought it was something to think about.
I like the name Ari for a boy. Not to crash hot on Hillary, but it's a personal taste thing.

    Hi

WOW! What a great bunch of feedback - thanks heaps to everyone who replied to my post.

We thought about using a longer name that is shortened to Ari but decided quite a long time ago that we didn't want to do that - if we decided on Ari it would just be Ari. So, if a longer name that is shortened to Ari is NOT an option, does that change anyones opinion of Ari? Does it change anyones opinion of Hillary? We're still undecided but throwing all your comments into the mix has been great and I look forward to more..... not that I expect much from you all eh?!

Thanks again and hope to hear from you all again.

I like austenteaparty's idea of Audrey if it's a girl. (I love the name Audrey) Goes great with Claudia ... I'm not that huge Hillary fan, sorry

Have never heard of the name Ari for a boy .. but it sounds really cool. No, wait ... I have, but we spell it differnt (Arrie) and say it more flat.
Ari for boy or girl ... would sound good, IMO

In the end ... it's your daugther/son, so what ever you feel would work.

Goodluck chosing!! And welcome to BB
