    Hermione

Ok we all know it from the Harry Potter books and it's hard not to think of a bushy haired little bossy boots!

The name is Greek meaning "Earthly" - I think everything about it is beautiful - although I would never use it due to the association with the Harry Potter phenomenon.

So what does everyone think of the name Hermione?

Sorry can't get past the Harry Potter connection so I personally wouldn't use it.

I grew up with a family friend called Hermione........she was a beautiful little girl, so it has a nice association for me I think of her before Hermione Granger

I went to uni with two! They are both gorgeous vibrant personalities. One of them shortened it to Mione which I think is really very pretty on its own.

I'm not a fan of the name, and its got nothing to do with Harry Potter. Has always reminded me of 'hermit'...

I think it's a grouse name. I don't mind the Hermione Granger character anyway, she's pretty darn cool!

And don't worry if people go 'oh, like out of Harry Potter'? I always used to get 'what, like River Phoenix', but now no-one comments really.

Never read Harry Potter, and the name just looks strange to me. Cross between her and hormone? Hormones for her? Nah

I think that most current pop references probably won't matter to our children when they're growing up just like we would have no idea about the pop references in our parents day.

I think its a pretty name and the Harry Potter reference prob won't mean as much in 10 years time. There are probably still plenty of boys called Harry regardless of the books...

But it only matters that you like it, it will be your daughter!
