I don't think Darcy is wierd for a girl at all. Personally it is not my favourite, and neither is Kita, but remember it is your choice. Screw what your friend thinks. If you love it, then it is perfect.

I love Darcy. I have only ever heard it being used for a boy though but hey! My name is Dayl (pronounced Dale) so would would I care!

No matter what name you choose, someone is going to hate it so as long as you and your partnet like it, go for it!!!

Thank you so so much ladies, for all your honest opinions.
I much prefer Darcy to Kita. By the way you say it as in Keeta. That was DH's pick, then we were at Bunnings and got served by a girl named Darcy, thats how we came to love that name.
    Again thank yo so much.

Darcey Bussell is a famous prima ballerina (English I think, now retired). I think it's a fabulous name for a girl - while I suppose it is originally a male name, it's one of those names that has become unisex like Shannon, Ashley, Leslie, Lindsay etc.

Not a fan of Kita though sorry.

    Hi,

Well my honest opinion is that I'm not the hugest fan of Darcy but simple because I'm a fan of girly pretty delicate names iykwim and I don't mean this isn't a beautiful name just not my personal favourite. However I think it's a great name and seeing as you r obviously a big fan of the name I think go ahead and use it!!!

TBH, I know it is a unisex name but I think of it as a girls name first, I think lately it is much for common for a girl than boy. I think as long as you're not picking a name that is so for the other sex your child is going to get teased and bullied well who cares? Names change all the time like the name Kelly and Kim were boys names and now they're girls!

As someone else mentioned there is Cameron Diaz and Reese Witherspoon and I think both names are far more boyish than Darcy and yet aren't they both beautiful women who suit their names to the t!!

Go for it! No one else helped make you baby so they can but out in the name picking stakes! I think it's horribly rude to make such comments when someone says these are the names we are thinking of!!

Please, don't spell it D'arcy. 'Cute' or not, punctuation in names is a pain when it comes to filling out forms. Some of them don't recognise anything but actual letters. Besides, it makes me want to pronounce the name with a space between the D and the Arcy, like D-arcy.

I agree with Antonia, I would be tempted to pronounce it Da - arse-ey if it had the apostrophie in the name. It also looks really made up.

Darcy is really sweet and lovely.

We were going to cal our little girl Tiera Darcy and I thought it was a beauiful name.... Had a change of heart at the last minute, but is still on our short list of girls names for #2 if we have another girl! I was pg at the same time as my auntie and they had it on their short list for a boy... everyone is different. Go with what you love.
