Bath, if you're Irish it pretty much rhymes with Kathleen and the Cait is pronounced more like Cotch (or Koyt).
I used to to to school with a Caitlyn and she had to tell every new teacher how to pronounce it lol.

Wow! well you learn something everyday in BB! Thanks for that Bron... interesting. DH is a stickler for correct gaelic pronounciation.... our DD's middle name is Eowyn (with an accent above the o) and we are always helping people pronounce it... which is why we gave it to her as a middle name! Oh and it roughtly sounds like "air wyn" but there's a subtle non-english sounding sound to the "air" bit.

I love it! Don't think I've heard it before but have just sat here and said it out loud a few times and it sounds so pretty!!!

We didn't tell anyone names we liked before we had ds for this reason, too many people have opinions and at the end of the day it's your child! You get to choose the name! Unless they're going to deal with the all night screaming, vomiting and everything else that comes with the baby they don't get a say!
TOTALLY agree!! - Love the name Ashyln (VERY Pretty) and yes we didnt tell anyone our DD's chosen name for the same reason - didn't want to hear all the blah blah blah

I also love the name Ashlyn - and despite how common it is, Ashley is my all time favourite girls name!!

I would just go for it - when it comes to names, I recommend just keep them to yourselves, as other opinions don't matter at the end of the day!!

Oh yeah, everyone always has something to say on your name choices. I especially don't tell my family our choices.

Anyway, I know of a couple of girls called Ashlyn and I think it is a lovely name. Don't let anyone's opinions sway your choice of name.
