How soon is too soon, to pick names?

Im 9 weeks, 2 days today.

Ive been nagging hubby to help me think of names we both like. Sometimes he will just throw a name out there and other times he will say its to early to pick names.

When did you ladies start picking names? I dont want to have names set in stone but Id like to think we have 2 girls and 2 boys names sorted by the time 'Freckle' comes along.

    Thanks

We had names picked out years before we even thought about having children

Though the names soon changed once we were pregnant. We made a definate choice when we got closer to 20 weeks when we would find out the sex.

But really any time is a good time to decide on names.

We started picking names about 14m before Liebling was born. Having said that, we needed to - we still hadn't picked a girl's name by the time he was born!

Never too soon! We were the same as LMS, had names picked for ages. Then we actually got pregnant, and didn't like any of them anymore We discussed for aaaaggggeeesss, and never could decide on a boys name. Luckily we're having a girl! I just randomly threw out a name on our way to the 20 week scan, we both loved it, and now it's not going anywhere!

But yeah, if we hadn't started early, or if we were having a boy, we probably wouldn't have had a name til the birth (not that there's anything wrong with that either!).

With our first, DH wouldn't even discuss it until we'd had the 19 weeks scan. I'm now pregnant again and we decided on the names before we even knew we were expecting again! So never too soon

Ha ha Freckle is what we call our DS now!!! We couldn't agree on a boy's name (we found out the sex) so we had a Baby ***** (my surname) in the hossy and only named our DS a few days after he was born. I don't think it's ever too early to have some names handy

Never too soon! I had several names picked out not longer after we got our BFP. Enjoy picking names, it can take longer than you think to get your shortlist sorted!

PS: Freckle is what DH calls me!!!

Thanks everyone. I've started writing down names I like. We won't be finding out Freckles gender so we need to short list for both boys and girls

    NEVER TO SOON!!!!!
you would rather have a name early, then be like us, bub is one month old tommorow, and we only just got a short list we both like done this week, so no, its NEVER to soon!!!
eta: we found out gender at 20 weeks, so we realy have no excuse as to why theres still no name. (also the still no name and poor baby comments get a bit much!)

We had our names picked out before DS1 was conceived. When I got pregnant I extended the list incase I had twins so we had 2 boys names but we went with the original name as it had family meaning. My daughter's name was chosen when I was about 10, DH didn't like it to start with but I insisted and won

The twins were the hardest to name as I only had 17 weeks to change my list from 1 girl name, 1 boy name to BB/GG/BG combinations. I felt very unorganised

I had names picked out at 17! Unfortunately my DH hated both of them I was talking names before conception for both my babies but DH wasn't keen to talk about it. He drove me nuts! We finally picked names for this one about 2 weeks ago. DS's name was picked by the 19 week scan but that was only because we found out he was a boy. We didn't have a girl's name picked for him.

No time is too soon but have to say my DH was a bit blase about it all until the last few weeks. Best thing I did was just keep my own list and when he seemed responsive I would run it past him and we gradually narrowed it down!

We didn't really seriously start talking until my 20 week scan, but I set an arbitary deadline of 30 weeks to have the name chosen: I really wanted to be sure to have one to greet him with at birth, so some premmie-ness was allowed for.
