    And if you call her Arya, make sure her middle name or your last name doesn't start with N.

    'Arya N.' has racist connotations that most people would prefer to avoid, I would imagine.

    I pronounce the name in the book the same way as 'Aria' meaning song, ie with three syllables. I think it's a beautiful name.

    Definitely Are-yuh. I wouldn't have thought to look at it any other way, weird. If you spelt it Aya, I would say ay-ah (as in heya without the h)

    I quite like Aya - if you want Ah-ya then Aya is definitely the way to go. I saw it and went Ah-ree-ah.

    Or Aria. But of course in Australia that has music connotations... Dunno.

    When I read GoT, I've pronounced it like Aria. It's a pretty name.

    I have a Persian friend whose son is called Arya (pronounced Ar-yee-ah). Ārya is an ancient Sanskrit word used by Hindus, Jains, and Buddhists. I think it's most commonly a boys name although can be a girls name also with this spelling.

    Im not sure if its because im a Kiwi but when I see the name I say it A ry ( like Rye ) a. Nobody else seems to see it like this so maybe im just a wee bit strange haha
