As a teacher I am obligated to advise NOT to go with a "J" name for a boy, and Joshua especially.

Coming from networking with teachers in the schools I have worked in and those surrounding where I teach, 98% of boys starting with J are little shytes (of course there are exceptions)
Me personally, hell would have to freeze over first before I chose a J name for my child. That's just my opinion.

Having said that, LOVE the other boys names you have, especially Oliver.

    lol Really Pooley?
That is quite strange how you can see patterns like that! How cool.

What are Charlotte's like? ( Should I be preparing myself now? lol)

I love strong boys names and think Oliver Matthew is my pick!

For girls I like Soraya as the name not only is beatiful but also obvioulsy means alot to you two as a couple.

I think you are having a boy FYI ( not that this is a poll)

He he he! Any reason why Pinny or just a stab in the dark?! LOL

I'm pretty glad Oliver and Hamish are winning the votes as they are our two faves. Oliver more than Hamish actually. DH and I always shorten names so Oli sounds great too. And Pooley, thanks for the tip on the 'J' names as stupid as it sounds, I was looking for a reason to scratch Joshua off the list. I've always loved it but it is such a common name, has been for years really.

So glad to hear most of you like Soraya too. I think it is gorgeous and DH is actually A-OK with this 'different' name.

This has really helped heaps! Thanks so much girls!

    Oliver Matthew sounds great!!
    Joshua Matthew also sounds nice.

I actually dont think Ash sounds good with any of these names.

Girls: middle name will be Elsie
Lila is lovely. I would spell it that way as it looks neater and classier. Lila Elsie is sweet.

Thanks Mumtobe I like the sound of Matthew as a middle name too (it's my maiden name, sort of) but Ash is DH's initials. I think he'd be happy with either though.

That spelling of Lila is really cute - thanks for the tip!

I think that either Oliver Ash or Oliver Matthew sound great.

    Soraya/Siraya Elsie definitely I say!

    How is Soraya pronounced?

    My first thought are So-RAY-ah?

But then I saw Siraya suggested, and I want to pronounce it like the country name - Syria...

    I'm so confused....

I've also heard that about J boys names too BTW...

LOVE Elsie for the girls middle name! So cute!

ETA: ttcanxiety - that's because Addison is traditionally a boys name, meaning "son of Adam", but is becoming more popular as a girls name. Just like my DD's name - Emerson ("son of Emery")!! But who cares as long as it cute, and fits what ever sex you want it to! As long as you aren't naming a little girl Keith or Bruce or something!

Hi Alipralli! You got it right the first time, SOR-AY-A. Good point about spelling it with an 'i', it could be easily confused.

Soraya Elsie - it's really, really growing on me...unless Tarko is a boy! For some reason I'm very girl focussed though. Mothers intuition? God knows! LOL!

    Hey Taurean,
Lovely name selection - i find it interesting that your boys names are quite conservative and the girls names are really unique. I do love the name Ash - or even Asher, but Matthew is very classic. Oliver Matthew would be my pick.
Sounds like you are sorted with Soraya Elsie too - fast work
Are you planning on telling family your names, or waiting until Tarko is born?
