    Question Mabel?

Mabel is growing on me lately as a possible contender should our next baby be a girl.

We really prefer uncommon names in the latest generation. Our boys all have fairly uncommon names.

Does it inspire old lady connotations or do you think on the right kid it could pull off???

I think it's cute. The right kid could definitely pull it off.

It actually reminds me of the tv show 'Mad About You' (Helen Hunt and Paul Riser were the lead characters)they named their daughter Mabel and said that it was because it was the acronym 'Mothers Always Bring Extra Love'

    I like it

I would never have thought of using it until I met one, but loved it instantly.
She spelt hers Maybelle but still pronounced the same.
Sadly it sounds stupid with our surname or we'd have it 'on the list'

Love it! My step mother's mum was Mabel and she was a very resilient and strong character who knew her own mind and really was one special lady. I would have used it except it would have offended EVERYONE! xx

I love Mabel! I think it is a gorgeous name. And I think we're far enough out of the 90's that there wont be many people who make the "Mad about you' connection either LOL.

I love it. A lot of old fashioned names are becoming more popular atm & i'm surprised that this isn't more popular. I think it's really pretty. I would have liked it for DD. I would have spelt it Maybelle too. Their is a little Mabel in DS's kindy class. She's such a cutie.

*sigh* the fact that more than 3 of you have mentioned you know a Mabel under 10yo puts me off it now lol

    Back to the drawing board.
