Aya is a lovely name! I don't think many people would come up with the association to 'ire' - I didn't until I saw your question. Ire is also probably one of those words that's pronounced a bit differently by different accents depending on if they say the 'r' as an 'r' if you know what I mean. It may be that it's only our aussie accent that make them sound similar.
No...because I pronounce "ire" as "eye-er", and that name as"eye-ah"...it is a subtle difference, but ire would never have occured to me had you not said it.
I think that most people would pronouce it Aay-uh. I don't think the connection to ire is too great - not a problem for me. Though I know where you are coming from - I ruled out Noah as I didn't like that the name starts with No (as opposite to yes)
I like the idea of using a "virtue" name and continuing the "theme" from Grace. Faith is nice, but I also like Prudence, Charity, Constance, Patience, Trinity. I don't think you could use Honour though!
