Not a name I would use, or even a name in my opinion, but I taught a little girl named Princess. We thought her mum was just calling her that as a nickname, but no it was her real name. Even more unfortunate for the kid, was her last name was Hayley. So it was Princess Hayley. Oh dear. Poor kid was embarrassed everytime someone said her name. (as in you could see her turn bright red when I called out her name). And to top it off, she was the biggest tomboy I've ever known, so really un Princess like.
We asked her mum one day why the name, and she said she was so drugged out after the birth that when they asked her what she was gonna call her, she just said Princess, and her hubby took her at her word and filled the forms in before she knew it. (???)

i went to high school with a girl named Dimples.....not a nick name, and she had no dimples, it was a hindi name and her parents forbid her to change it to a more common name!

My nieces name is Anderson, but she is called Andie. Have never heard that as a girls name before, but it suits her to a tee.

I was looked after a kid called Rogan Josh, named after the melbourne cup winner. Parents were so chuffed with themselves (they were very horsey). Weren't so pleased when it was pointed out that the horse was actually named after a popular indian curry! I think they wanted to change it afterwards. Proves research can save a bit of embarrassment later.

Oh and never call your child meleana, or every medical person they meet for the rest of their lives will be having a quiet chuckle. I had one and every single person how saw it gave a snicker. Very sad.

Zebulon is the name of a place in North Carolina in the US, I worked there for a bit, I did think sounded like a sci-fi name but thought it was quite cool for a place (the place got its name from a company name apparently) had never thought of it as a persons name though.

I teach a little boy named Jina.I first thought it was a little girl pronounced "Geena" but its a boy pronounced "jyna" I can't believe some parents give their children names like this..Kids are very very cruel at times and to name your son a name that sounds like vagina is unfair. I understand that every parent has a right to name their child what they like but a little consideration doesn't hurt kwim?
