I just recently met a little boy called Foxy. I have to say, i think it's a little cruel - but he's a cutie.

I lovr the name Aoife. I too didn't know how to pronounce it the first time I saw it, and automatically thought Oy-fee. And thought It was a strange name. Then I hear it pronounced and really liked it.

it was on a reality TV show I was watching on Foxtel, and yes the girl was Irish.

Yeah the actor out of forrest gump (bubba) is mykelti - but he pronounces it michael-t.

So we sorta got it from that, but changed it so the pronounciation was the way that its spelt - and then changed the my to meh cos we didn't want her teased at school (my-kelti, come here MY-kelti.. lol)

    Great thread.
I went to school with girls called America and Xochitl.

My grandparents had friends who apparently named their daughter Filizanka (pronounced Fee-lee-shan-kah). The word means teacup in Polish, and apperently these people were on holiday in Poland and really liked the sound of the word...

I'm not sure if its a real name, but I've always liked the sound of Cyan for a girl (like the colour).

I have a son called Cobie which could be a girls name to and my other son is Tavis (never heard of another one of those). My youngest daughter is Meara (M ear rah) it means laughter and my 2nd youngest is Kaylee Inara. Might not be so uncommon but not many that I have heard of.

Some others I like are - Zabina, Asarhia, Tarissa and Anwyn

I like Asarhia. I love the name Azaria, but seeing it like that just has Azaria Chaimberlain (sp?) in my head. I don't see it with the other spelling at all...
    Might be another suggestion

All I'm going to say, is that I work in family law, and mate, some people need their heads read. The more "out there" the name, the more likely you'll end up as one of my clients...

    I kid you not.

I'm going to leave now before I go mad.....
