My Girls Name List!!!

My shortlist of girls names, in no particular order:

Sadie
Tallulah
Harlow
Honor

Dh is not coming to the party on absoloutly anything so ive told him ill shortlist names and he can pick the one he dislikes the most :/ its getting frustrating!

I really love Honor but an old friend who I only keep in contact with on FB these days, recently named her daughter this (Honor Haven) so now i feel it rude to use this.

I like Sadie & Harlow from your list the best. I'm not a fan of Honor (or similar names like Faith, Charity etc) personally. You have a little while to convince your DH. My DH & I didn't agree on DD's name until just a few weeks before she was born despite endless prodding from me

I think all of them are very celebrity. Haven Honor is Jessica Alba's daughters names, Sadie is Adam Sandlers, Harlow is Nicole Ritchie's.

Which is fine of course, but that's what I associate those names with.

Erm, yes I'd not heard of half of those names for celebrities!

You would have been great at the baby shower I went to recently where one of the games was match the ridiculous celebrity baby name with the celebrity... the likes of Heavenly Harani Tiger Lily, NOT the ones above.

Back to the names above, I really like Sadie, Honor and Harper. Not a bit fan of the others sorry hun. But you name her whatever you feel is right.

As for the facebook friend, well that's up to you. Our baby names have always been determined in a large part by DH's family - he has a large extended family and every name I suggested he'd go "No that cousin Jim-Bob's first son's girlfriend's dogs name" or something. Even though I haven't met MOST of these people, we still can't use the names. Frustrates me no end as I feel like it is far enough removed that we can but hey, DH is as much part of the decision as me.

When I see all these name threads I think the same thing, ultimately if you and your partner like a name go for it.
If you have considered all the "implications" so to speak (ie, nicknames, references etc) and you are still happy than nothing anyone else says should matter!

Threetimes - I hear you re hardly any names left! My DH has a massive family and so does my side. We started a list of who has what names children and pets! Mainly because if you ask any of the little kids what they think of the name, they'll say that's cousin Sarah's cat!
I have also started a list of the names of the kids at work (doesn't matter now though made redundant!) BUT it was confusing at lunch time of who was talking about who as three of the ladies had kids called Jack!
I think to convince your DH, it needs to seem like it was his idea. A friend of mine liked a few random names and deliberately left out magazines with the baby pic and name next to it! Sure enough DH forgot that she had mentioned that name and 'came up wit it' all by himself!!
ROFL - ah what it was to see his face after they had signed the birth certificate and my friend pulled out the magazine!!
