If you like it you may as well go for it.
If people ask just tell them you were using the cat as a test subject so you were sure that you would still like the name after using it for a few years.

I had a foster puppy a few years ago that I named Jaxom. I really loved the name Jaxom but thought DH would never go for it as a name for a baby. Turns out that DH actually suggested it while we were still pregnant, lol! I was the one that told him that we couldn't use it because people would think we named him after the pup we fostered.
But I think your situation is a bit different. Technically they are different names you are using. Plus they are not quite as unique as something like Jaxom, so many people might not even make the connection with your cat.
I think that if you love the name, then go for it sweetie!
My Mum did it around the other way around ... cause she had 3 DD's and not any son's she named all her pets thereon after boy's names that she just absolutely loved, eg Micheal, Tristan were dogs
