DH and I are thinking about the name Amalie (or Amalee). Using Sophie or Sophia as a middle name. I found it in a baby book and I love the sound of it - also we can use Milly as a nick name. The thing is, I'm not a fan of unique names or names that are spelt different just to be different. I don't want to have to spell it out all the time. So my question is, is Amalie a unique name or have people heard of it before or know anyone with this name? I don't know anyone with this name, but I'm pretty sure I've heard it used before in movies.
Yep, I know two babies called Amalie. And there is a movie titled the same. It's a French movie I think. I loved it and it's where I first heard the name, since then I think it has become more popular.
I think it is lovely.. it quickly becoming popular though... i dont think it is really unique know though...know 2 babies in the last year with this name. but it is sooo adorable
There is a french film called Amelie. My DF has it. I don't think it is that unique any more. I have heard it bandied about by a few (us included lol). If you love it - use it
I love this name, I definitely think its becoming more common. I loved Amelia but dh vetoed it, but then a friend had an Amelie and said he liked it!! I don't think you'd have to spell it out spelled with an 'e'. She might get called Amelia as it's a bit more common, a bit like my own name, Julia and always being called Julie. I'd also use Sophia as the middle name with it... It just seems to flow better to me!
