I desperately wanted Chaos (loves me a different kinda name!) for my DS, and am ever so grateful DP argued until blue in the face that this was NOT a suitable name under any circumstance. Turns out DS is rather quiet and a bit of a mummy's boy.......definately NOT compatible.
Great thread!
for a boy i had oliver, dezi, levi, tate all were vetoed
and for girls i had eden, savannah, amali, isla, evie, annabella he hated them all he wantes
chloe or cailin ,and a boy we agree on lucas now
Mahala. Specifically, Mahala Kathleen after my grandmother (it's been in my family for close on 500 years) and Kathleen after his mum.
But he finally agreed if we were to have a girl that's what he would have named it (something to do with a really nasty pregnancy for me)
Obviously we didn't need to use girls names but these were still vetoed
Averlie
Allira
Pandora
Elodie
Romany
Boys
Gabriel
Aden
Louis-Francois
Levi
Taliesin
I was bitterly disapponted to discover men have a thing about baby names. I really wanted to name a girl Aurora Rose. He thinks Aurora is too hippy. I still love it. Also vetoed were:
Audrey - too old fashioned
Imogen
Heather
Phoebe
Genevieve
India
We had a tough time with boys names. DH doesnt like long version of names, so he wanted Joe, not Joseph, Tom, not Thomas. Didnt like biblical names. Vetoed Reuben for DS2, which I loved. Atticus wasnt even considered, Jeremy was too upper class English apparently and involved much role playing. I couldn't get a look in on Raffaele, no matter how many ways I brought it up.
It works both ways. Apparently he always wanted to name a son Joshua. That's the name of a disaster I got involved with years ago, so definately not.
Rather than me getting upset with him saying no to names I loved, I had him come up with a list as well. Then we compared lists to create a shortlist and we each weighted the remaining names. DS1 got a name ranked 3 or 4 but really suited him. DS2 chose his name when I played him "hey jude"![]()
DH and I had many a heated conversation over names when I was pregnant with DD.
He vetoed Katherine, Georgia, Elizabeth and Ella (although I kind of agree on that one. It is just so popular now except that I have loved it since I was small. My fave Aunt is Ella). He wouldn't even consider Ella for a middle name even though I relented and DD's middle name is Charlotte (his fave name)
We had actually agreed on 3 girls names this time-Elizabeth,Annabelle,Veronica but he vetoed Arabella & Amelia. But it turns out this little one is a boy & we had no idea for boys names. He said no way to Sebastion,Adam,Tristan & quite a few others which i can't remember right now but thankfully we have come up with 2 that we both like although he's leaning towards Daniel which is my 2nd choice & i'm leaning towards Thomas which is his 2nd choice .Hopefully he looks like a Thomas & there wont be any arguments from DH![]()
Matthias for a boy. I still love that name. Also Patrick. And Jareth, but that one wasn't a serious suggestion.
For girls, there was a list longer than my arm. Pretty much every nice name bar 3 were vetoed (still in the running for the future). He even wanted to veto the middle name Zaidie, which ain't happening. And then of all the names in the world, he liked on that was OK (Tamsin) and he liked Sophie. Which isn't a bad name unless you sound like my mother's family and I am not having people torture, maul and otherwise distress my daughter's name with their awful accent. Although I would have compromised on Sophia and called her Phia, great name! But he wouldn't.
eta - my choice of girl's names that I love!
This included - Tyra, Amelia, Eleanor, Xanthe, Naomi, Bethan, Caitlyn, Leah, Allisa, Joanna, Imogene, Adelaide (after the Queen, not the state - we're not in Australia), Eliana, Cielle, Ellisa... the list goes on.

I love Willow for a girl, if we have a 2nd child and its a girl I will pull out all stops, but DH currently dislikes it
I wanted to name ds2 Malachi but dh didn't like it.
I wanted Annaliese for our dd but dh won't have it. I still love it & will try again for our next if it's a girl. Archer he says is pooncy but I think it's cool!
What a great idea for a thread. I love French names, DH thinks they are silly if not used in a French speaking country. Like Delphine and Honor.
I loved the name Amelia forever! Dh would not budge on it! But he tellsme after naming Darcie that he liked Amelie!
He wasn't sold on Maxwell either.... Wanted me to rename the dog, and call max, Charlie! I won!
Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - I wonder what the kids are up to....Better go!
dh vetoed which i love both
