Sophie is short enough and well-known enough that I think it sounds best with an uncommon name or a longer name- at least, something other than Jade, Grace, Marie, or Rose and all the other standard one-syllable middle names.

Zach would also go better with a longer middle name, if you're using it as a full name. If it's a nickname for Zachary or Zachariah, it might be better with a shorter one.
