    Nervous about name choice

I only have 3 weeks to go, and am getting nervous about our name choice! We have chosen Jyden Daniel R****ck, and have no back-up names (that we both agree on)

What do you think of our choice?
Has anyone else had the same feelings as their due date got closer?

Absolutely! My boys all have unusual names and although I only knew the sex of two of them before they were born I had the "cold feet" thing big time, especially with Scout. Even after he was born I still wasnt sure I had made the right choice. But now I cant imagine him being called anything else.
My advice is just give it time. Im sure he will suit his name once you meet him and in a few months you wont even remember feeling unsure about it.

    Good luck

Its really nice, i wasn't sure on ella's name but now i just love it. Unless you have a name you love alot more than jyden then just stick with it. Thats why we ended up choosing ella for our little girls name, there was no name that we actually liked more! Make sense?
    All the best

Jyden is just sort of meh to me, it's rather bland and trendy. I love Daniel, though.

I would treat the name like they have already been named with it even though they are not born yet so you don't waste anymore energy in worry about it ... BUT actually get to ENJOY the name all together (hope that made sense)

I think JYDEN is truely a really, really nice name ... such a brilliant choice ...

My mum was telling me that before i was born she had already picked out names, Lily if i was a girl, and Oscar if i was a boy (yeah i know what your thinking....thank god i was a girl eh). And she said that when i came out, i wasn't breathing because the cord was wrapped around my neck, i was all blue, but i had really pink cheeks, and she said the name just came to her, Sophia Rose. Her nickname for me to this day is Rosebud.
My partner and i have picked out names for our little one, Claire Ivy, if it's a girl, and Tobias Sidney if it's a boy (Sidney being my partners grandfathers name, not my choice) But as my mum keeps saying to me, i can pick out names until the cows come home, but i'll know exactly which name i want as soon as i see that little face.
Love the name Jyden, awesome spin on an old favorite. My cousin Sarah wanted to name her little boy Jackson, but didn't want him to be called Jack, so her and her husband named him Jaxon. Jax is now about 9 months old, and the cutest little man i have ever seen. hehehe

    Hi
I'm not really a fan of trendy type names with different spelling. You may find that your boy will be forever having his name mispronounced or asked if he has spelt it wrong (left out the A). He will have to get used to spelling out his name every time his gives it to someone. Sorry to be negative, just seen it happen too many times. What's cute and trendy now might not be when he is a grown man.

I like it! i dont think it would be mispronounced & if i heard it thats how i would spell it.

Bodhi had a few different names. A week b4 he was born there were still 3 names that we couldnt make a decision on. As soon as we saw him we knew he was a Bodhi.
Was the same with Mya-Rose. She didnt have a name for about 2 days. In the end we chose her name as its my name spelt different & Rose is my middle name
We thought about doing that with Bodhi but coz daddy's name being Leon, the only name we could come up with was Noel------neither of us was that keen on that name haha!

I also love Jy or Jai for short

We had Archie's name picked out from before conception, and we loved it all the way through pregnancy, however, when he was born i had doubts that the name suited him, I thought he looked like an Alex. So for the first few months I just called him Baby. Sonce then he has really grown into his nme and I love it!

Thank you to everyone for their thoughts.

I know it is a "non-traditonal' name but that's why we like it! If we were all the same, then the world would be a bit of a boring place... I too have a trendy (unusual) name, and love being different, hence the reasoning behind our babies names...

We will probably get the "Jayden" thing, but I'm sure we'll be able to deal with it.

I think I've been feeling weird about it as we haven't told anyone the name, and so haven't said it out loud... well we'll see in a few weeks if he is indeed a Jyden or not !

    Thanks again ladies!

Out of curiousity, do most people think trendy and unusual are the same thing, or have similar meanings? Trendy means following a trend- in other words, doing the same thing other people are doing. So if you have a trendy name, you have a name that a lot of other people have. When I said Jyden was trendy, I certainly didn't mean that I thought it was unusual!

Tsmummy -i was in the same boat as you just the other day. My DH and i had agreed on a name and then i got sick of it and 'didn't like it anymore. Then ibegan searching for names again finally when my DH cameup with the name Jaylan David (which i had on a list). We both loved the name. Then last Friday i gave birth to our JAYLAN DAVID and was concerned what other people's reactions were going to be like as i had put the name in a thread here and i had had mixed reactions with it. Well to be honest with you everyone has commented how nice a name it is and that it is a strong name and something differnent. But the moral of the story is it doesn't matter what other people think as long as you and your DH love it. Yeah he may have to spell his name for the rest of his life but he will get use to it. I have a daughter called BREARNA (brea - r - na) and she always gets Breanna, but you just correct people politely and move on.
I actually really like the name JYDEN DANIEL, if you love it sick to your guns and call your precious son by a precious name.
Goodluck with the birth and look forward to seeing your birth announcement

I think that Jyden is 'unusual' (the dictionary defines unusual as: un-u-su-al adj. not usual, common, or ordinary) - as I haven't heard anyone called by that name, then I would certainly place it in the unusual basket. The dictionary defines 'trendy' as: trend-y adj. of or in accord with the latest fad or fashion - and if 'in accord with the latest fashion' means that it isn't some 'old traditional' name - then that's what I want for my child.

Can I ask why you are always so close-minded about names? Every time I see you reply to a post (unless it is a "traditional" name of course) you seem quite negative. This forum is not to debate the 'correctness' of names, but rather to get broad opinions, whilst I respect yours, maybe you could be a little more tactful in your responses.

Once again, thanks to those that had helpful, constructive comments.
