We named our son Zeke. This is a shortened version of Ezekiel - it means the same thing and used to be the nickname of people called Ezekiel. However, we just liked Zeke.
DS2 has the shortened/nick name of a long name and so far i always get people repeating it to me as a question, and i just say it again, then they realise and they seem to get it. I think theres so much variation especially in spelling too that its fine. People will understand eventually!
