No One Pronounces the name correctly!

    Even the Unit's DAD! grrr

The name we were going to use all along is Anika.

Pronounced Arh- ni - kha (like the arh in arnotts, the ni in nipple and the kha in (o i cnat think of how to explain??!!))

Anyway, everyone has been saying it like A-nee-ka. NO NO NO! Even DH has started saying it this way. Really gets me going.

So now I really dont know Its so pretty, but I dont want to be going forever repeating how to say it correctly!

So - after some name suggestions please? I like names that are pretty or mystical.

Some other names I like are

    Tanith
    Tanaquil
    Matisse
    Tazia
    Tamika
    Tarika
    Sakia
    Aysha
    Talia

Do you think going with Ahnika would help? Not quite the essential oil, but hopefully putting enough emphasis on that first syllable to get the pronunciation correct?

I know a lovely Mother who has two daughter's with names from India ... which i think are very, very pretty ... they ... ASHMITA ... and ... ANEESHA (pronounced as read)

I truely like your choice of ANIKA ... I think you should stick with what you love and don't let other people's pronunciation put you off

Not everyone says my two year old daughter's name CENDRINE correctly ... and i'm so glad i stuck with what i loved for a name ... put it this way with names it's either the pronunciation or the spelling or the nicknames that comes out of a name ... there is usually something SO PLEASE DON'T LET IT WORRY YOU ... choose what is in your heart and don't let others ' cloud your choice

I would pronounce it Anika not Aneeka if I saw it. I think Ahnika might solve the problem.

    How about:

    Anais
    Willow
    Neve
    Freya

Reading the name like this "Arh- ni - kha" I pronounce it exactly as you want it pronounced

Reading it like Anika, i pronounce it how everyone else is pronouncing it.

So all i think you need to do is change the spelling

No need to give up a name you love

What about Chardonnay, Serenity, Tia, Ocean (OH SHEE ARN), Blessing, Sapphire, Briella, Satarrah.

I know an 'Arnica' which is the spelt the way that I think u like to pronounce it.
It is also a medication for sore muscles.

The Anika I know pronounces her name A - NEE - KA and everyone she meets always pronounces it that way.
