My DD's name is Kailey and i always get "oh thats a pretty name" or "you don't hear that name too often". I did have to laugh when a guy i work with thought her name was Railey. I just laughed and corrected him he said it was an unusual name.
We've gotten positive comments to our babies names, and yes we are Greek so we gave them Greek names. Everyone says Zoe's name really suits her, she's so bubbly and full of life!
I can't imagine Alex having a different name either, though he was almost Mihalis, and we ended up using that as his middle name.
My DS2 is Matteo, the looks I get, I've had a few people mis pronounce it. I've even has Natteo, 'Is that like the chocolate/hazelnut spread'
'No that's Nutella, you idiot'
My DD gets R h i a n n o n all the time, she is R h i a n n a. A child care worker at DD creche stills calls her the wrong name, even though she has been corrected numerous times.
My DD1 is called Harper which my partner and i have had picked out for about 5 years before she arrived this May and then along comes bloody Victoria Beckham......
I love the name George, my son was called Thomas, we definately always wanted traditional boys names, if we have another boy i think we would use Harry even though we might get the "Really, Harry and Harper" comments...lol
Most people seem to like Liebling's name, but we don't have too many comments on it. FiL was thrilled about one of his middle names though, and was going to call him by that name. I said OK and he didn't bother!
Don't know what people will make of my next child's name though.
For DD1 i always get oh like Ava Gardner ... umm yeah exactly like some old startlet i've NEVER heard of
And now we Have A & Z and DP and i are L & M i get did you deliberately pick the start, middle & end... NO we did not but thanks for being the 100th person to point it out
The nicest comments are that they are beautiful names and that they suit them... lucky we chose fairly 'common' names without meaning too i guess.
Love your story Epacris George is such a lovely, strong name!
For us, people always have positive comments for DD and DS1's names (L ily K ate and L iam J effery) but when I get asked DS2's name (C aelan J ames), I often get 'Caleb?' or 'That's unusual' and it usually gets compared to my first two 'normal' names and I have been asked if we made it up (no we didn't) and why on earth I would choose such a 'different' name for #3. Well....because we liked it!
Hmm can't really remember getting many comments about DD's name (Imogen), people have said nice things but usually I'm paying them eg. Hairdressers, Waxers, Optomotrists, Doctors so who knows what they really think!
