Thank you for your feedback - please, please, please keep it coming!
It's funny as I must confess I went onto a UK website a little while ago to get feedback on Rafferty, and they really love the name. Yet here, Archie is such a favourite over Rafferty. I can't figure out why there seems to be such a difference in opinion between the UK and Oz? Mmmm, maybe Jude Law helped to pave the way in the UK, by naming his son Rafferty (..or maybe not?!)
It's encouraging that some of you do like Rafferty, thank you! But I also get what 'MrsBexie' means about Archie sounding like a sweet name, whereas Rafferty is quite a harsh sounding name with all those f's and the t! The thing that's turning us off Archie is that it is getting quite common (that said, I don't know any other Archie?). Given our firstborn is Felix, we do warm to slightly unusual names, so Archie feels a little more 'pedestrian' next to Felix, whereas Rafferty seems to carry the same slightly quirky style that we first loved in the name Felix.
...That may well make no sense, it's hard to articulate the thought process behind names isn't it?!
Tashybabe - that is weird that you're thinking about Rafferty, and even weirder, your signature quote from John Lennon is what I say about...oooh once a day! I love that quote! Why don't we both name our kids Rafferty and start a trend here in Oz!!
Seriously though, please please keep your feedback coming, this is so helpful!! Think I'm more confused than ever, but your honest comments help so much! DH is gunning for Rafferty here on this forum, which is not helping my confusion!!
