I think if you have not spoken to your brother in 20yrs, then it's fine. If anything was to come of it, the fact would be your little girls name is Charlotte and her cousin's is Charlie. Different names.

Charlotte and Charlie are different full first names, i dont think it matters if they get called the same name (yours as a nickname) and if you dont ever see them then thats even more reason to not stress about it. I have a Briella and my cousin has a Bella, my Briella gets called Bella all the time, it didnt put me off at all (well my Briella was born first so a bit hard for me to get put off lol, but it hasnt worried me at all).

I love Charlotte ( I have a DS though and another DS on the way so it's not an option for me)

IMHO - If you love it - I would use it...lock it in before your DH changes his mind..

My DH and I like Kai or Kye as our 2nd DS's name. DH has a cousin called Jye and my cousin is Kylie but has always been known as Ky and she has a son called Tyson and he gets called Ty lol but it's not stopping me and no one has mentioned it when we told them we liked Kye
