I don't think it matters. Names that are used over and over again are ageless. If you like the name I think that's all that matters. My DD has a super common name, but I loved it, still love it and am sure will always love it, no matter how many girls that cross our path who have the same name.

I think this is a great point - what matters the most is if you like it

Jessica seems to be popular every generation so I'd say it's pretty timeless. I personally couldn't use it as I know too many Jessica's my own age. There are not a lot of names this happens with- names seem to usually skip a few generations and a lot names being used now are the names of my grandparents generation. I thought Jessica was pretty popular at the moment, but storm is probably right that that was more so a few years ago. As everyone has said- if you love it go for it!

Thanks for all the replies. It's nice to hear some other perspectives. DH really loves the name and I like it but am also offering him some other suggestions, but it is definietly on the top 3 girl list for us. I feel alot more confident with girl names that what I do boys.

I agree. It is very popular & has been for a long time but the really beautiful classic names are like that. I loved it when I was little but have since been turned off because of associations with certain people. I hate it when that happens - so many wonderful names get crossed off the list.

I naturally love it!!! When I had DD I didn't know any others but found out later it was quite popular then, Jess has usually had one other in her grade at HS but none ever in Primary. At the moment in the school I teach at out of 380 children there are 2 Jessica s both are 6yrs old.

I think its a timeless lovely name but I am biased LOL
