    Too similar?

I know it's early days to be thinking about names, but we had been discussing them even before we got pregnant If this baby is a boy, I really like the name Tobias, but we already have Tabitha. Too similar do you think? T doesn't get called Tabby (although she might later on but now we have a different nickname for her) so there isn't the Tabby/Toby kind of confusion to worry about...

I think they are too similar, but just my opinion, got to go with what you are happy with!

Thanks for your input; I'm keen on the name because then all three will have a name with the first syllable ending in 'b'... still have to convince M of Tobias though. If not, I've still got a couple up my sleeve!

    I like both names...

My sister's name is Tabitha, and my partner at the time and myself really liked the name Tobias when Tabitha was pregnant. Of course, she also liked the name, as she had never heard it before. She varied it to Tabious (as she didn't want it shortened to Toby) - lesson learnt, don't share the name you have your heart set on

My daughter has a "Tobias" on both sides of her family - both my current partner and I have nephews by that name

There's actually a huge benefit of them sounding close - it means their names roll really nicely off the tongue when you're yelling at them!
