Wow I know quite a few in both, very interesting. A lot of 'timeless' names IYKWIM.
    Miss A is still popular

#8, woo hoo. I always said I'd never name any of my children anything in the top 100...

Lily's the *real* number one though. That table only takes into account specific spellings, so it misses out the Lillis, Lilybelles and Lillians.

    No real surprises in there.

In the HS (pasted below from article) they listed some of the least used names alot were spelling changes of other names but the one that surprised me was "Emilie" as I thought that was quite a conventional way of spelling Emily - a french variant.

"The least-common name list, provided exclusively to the Herald Sun by the Victorian Registry of Births, Deaths and Marriages, includes around 90 names that have been used for just six babies in the past year.

While Jack and Mia reign supreme as the most popular names, the most unpopular list includes the names of a fair number of well-known singers, TV personalities and actors, including Rihanna, Shakira, Bowie, Farrah, and Ziggy.

Even starring roles on the small screen isn't enough to rescue names such as Livinia, Eddie and Russell from inclusion on this list.

Other uncommon names are strange spellings of common names, such as Ayda (Ada), Filip (Philip), Jasmyn and Jazmin (Jasmine), and Emilie (Emily).

The most-unpopular list also includes names that were hallmarks of past generations: Allan, Cecilia, Frank, Jim, Jeffrey, Jenny, Sally and Winston."

I am gutted that girltwin's name is on there. It was really unusual when I picked it aged 11. Now everyone will think I just picked it because of it's trendy instead of after Scarlett O'Hara

I didn't pick DD's name because it was popular, just because I loved it and had for absolute years. I just hope she doesn't grow up hating her name because it's so common
Same here, we had A's picked from 20wks then it turned out popular, we didn't mind but it's kind of common now

Hmm I really would like a more detailed list of the least common names. Annoyed to see my chosen girls' name is in the top 15, but oh well, I've loved it for ages. Just need a boy's name now

Phew Nah, I don't think Isla is an overly common name yet. Funnily, I am Lily and my brothers name is Jack. Pretty sure they've been chart toppers for over two decades now.

Heh, neither of my yet to be used girl names are in there and DD's middle name (Emily) wasn't that popular 10 years ago when it was chosen. Alexander we knew is always going to be a classic, popular name and are ok with that as it's not really "trendy" if that makes sense..

Funnily enough, IRL I only know of one child with a name from that list and that's James.

Though little Buster's middle name is William, but that's a family name. Had to laugh that Moo's middle name is on the unpopular list, which is Allan, also a family name

That's DS2's middle name too, so not that unpopular

Neither boys names are on list.
But DS1 was 23 on year he was born and DS2 was 31 in birth year.

Doesn't phase me as we love the names.
