I quizzed my Mum with the La-a one this morning, she didn't guess. And was horrified when I told her what it was!
I still remember the birth announcement in the paper for little 'Anfernee'. To me, that kind of spelling gives the child a disadvantage in life from the start. As much as we don't like to admit it, we form opinions (often not fairly based) on first impressions. For a child with a ridiculously spelled name, often the first impression is not a good one.

Trouble with it too though is if you are a child and an adult pronounces your name wrong, you run the risk of coming across as either a smart-arse or just plain rude when you correct an adult kwim?

    Yep, Sarah, they're all work-related...

Just remember the one called "Tallulah does the Hula in Hawaii" who was (thankfully) taken off her parents in New Zealand...

It's just cruel doing that to a kid Abcde!

You could do Qwerty then it would be easy to spell on the keyboard!!
