I'm a fan of ' Unique names, my own name is not common and it never bothered me at all to spell it out, if anything it kind of made my feel more special in having an unusual name ... So in having said that I didn't hesitate to name my DD a unique name ... Only thing is Im not a big fan of is spelling a name totally different, in a wacky way IYKWIM !!

i go for uncommon traditional! My kids are Magnus and Evangeline, both the only ones i've come across, tho there are lots of Evie's. I was one of 5 girls in my year with my name (Catherine), and have ended up with a MIL with the same name! So i go by Cate And in our circle of friends there are 2 Michaels and 3 Matthews, dooming them forever to be "my Matt, her Matt" etc!
not keen on wierd spellings or ones that are obviously American and have way too many syllabyls (bad spelling there!)

I like unique, obviously. But some names are considered unique here in aus, but common in other parts of the world. Like Aricyn. Unique here, probably common as anything in Scandinavia since that's where it's from. But I'm sure I'll be classed as a bogan because I like my kids to have different names, and if that's what classes you as being a bogan - meh - so be it.

I like both. My girls names are common names in Poland but not so much here. We choose them because they are derivatives of more common names and they are easy to spell and say.

    Good luck

My daughter's name is jemima and her best friend same age and small country town is Jemimah! You can't win.
Our surname has to be spelt even though it is not unique there are just half a dozen ways to spell it.

Unique and traditional are changing constantly all you can do is spell it the most logic or commonist way possible.

There is a difference between unique and "weird"
My hubby has many rules to say no to names and one of them is "its not even a name rule" and oh the "how do you spell it rule"

The spelling of names drives me crazy!!!! Just spell it properly! Dont randomly add a H hoping it will male you cooler! *** its annoying! Lol!!

I chose a traditional name for DD but it is quite popular... Charlotte. I wanted something pretty and feminine and not weird so it was perfect!

Sent from my iPhone so sorry for the spelling and punctuation!!

I like traditional names I guess, but one persons traditional could be anothers unique.

Maxwell is a family name for me, but there are loads of max's around now. I loved the name Darcy, but chose Darcie as the spelling as it looks more feminine to me.

I'll have to see if they made the began list later!!
