Ahhh I never like to be negitive to names as I too like different names and don't really like people their two cents worth in (when I haven't asked) but as you have asked, here goes...
It reminds me of Podge... Like a Podgey belly... This may have something to do with the fact that I call my dog Podgey Dodge (his name is dodge). I do realise that is not at all how it is pronounced, but when I saw it thats what I thought.
Go with what you both love, in the end you are the only two people that needs to love it and enjoy hearing it!!!
    Good luck with it all

I love the Pogues but I have to be honest I am not sure that I would use it as a first name. Although as a middle name I think that it could be kind of cool.

But if you really like it it isn't as if they will be the only kid in the class with an unusual name these days.

It is unusual - I'm in two minds about it. I think it would be great as a middle name but not so sure for a first name.

Just remembered a reason I wouldn't use it - Pogue mahone - sooner or later some cruel kiddie would come up with it too.

Like Pish, I also don't like to be negative about names. It is important that the parents like the name. After a while everyone in the family gets used to a name and can't imagine the child being called anything else. And I have known some kids with some unusual names - Feather, Yogi, Chai...but I got used to them and it never made me feel negatively about the child.

In relation to Pogue, my first thought was the band. Then I said it out loud a few times, and I wonder if it could get misheard as 'Poke'.
