There are a lot of people commenting on how they are asked to spell their name "and it's a very common name"....
I am thinking that perhaps the reason a lot of people get asked how to spell their name (even the 'not-unusual') ones, could be that people these days are accustomed to unusual spellings.
For example, is it Kristy with a CH or a K? Lynne with one N or two? There are a lot of common variations on common names.
And that is without the very unusual ones added into the mix.
Bon, I get you on the Fb thing. My pet hate is at work, when I e-mail someone and my full name is in my sig, and they reply with the wrong spelling! How hard is it to check in rely? Big grrr.
I've had e-mails with my name in incorrectly too: this is AFTER spelling out my name 6-7 times on the phone so the person can find my e-mailon the work system! That's just rude.
BTW, in the UK they aren't allowed to ask about your name. I find that if I mention that it's Welsh I generally get a better response at job interviews than if I don't. I've had people wonder for months about the fact I'm a Lady... but because they're my boss/supervisor, they can't ask until I am no longer their authority. Or unless someone else asks while they're around.

Thankfully, I still have more teeth than tatts, but the visible piercings are a worry... have had no experience with Legal Aid yet, but I just turned 23 so there's still time yet!!
