    WDYT of MORRISSEY?

    Hi,

Our bub is due in less than 2 weeks. I was interested in seeking opinions on the boy's name:

    MORRISSEY

Do people like it? Or is it a bit too trendy sounding? (and no, I am not a fan of the muso Morrissey!).

    TIA

I thought of the muso straight away, maybe that's showing my age. I'm not a big fan because although I loved The Smiths Morrisey kind of annoyed me so I have negative associations with the name.
    I prefer Maurice/Morris.

    I love it too.
Big Smiths fan here, and then there's the fashion label too

Hmm.. nah I'm not a fan... if I was going to go for surname sounding names, I'd prefer to go for something like McKenzie or Macgregor or something like that... we had Macarian lined up for a boys name too if DD was going to be a boy...we also had Azarias Jonah as a name too...

I just think of The Smiths - which isn't a bad thing. Morrisey is a pretty funky name but it does have the connection of the band and also the fashion label.

What about Morrison? Although either name will probably get Morris or Morry for short which I'm not that fond of.

As soon as I read the thread title, I liked the name Morrison better. Morrissey I am not that fond of I am afraid. But if you love it, go for it.

Thanks everyone. The thing is, I am not sure whether I love it or not!

I like it because it is unique for a first name, but I am not particularly a fan of last names for first names. Although, if it was my maiden name or a family name about to die out I may go with it. I am also not so keen on Morry or Morris for nicknames, but they seem like logical nicknames for Morrissey.

    Thanks for your thoughts.

Not a fan, coz it will get shortened to Morris and I hate that name...
