Have you thought about any other "Mac" names? McKinley... Macauley... Maclean... ummm.... I'm sure there's more - have a look through the phone book maybe?
I think it's not so nice to have a name that is mistaken for the wrong gender, especially for boys. I have an uncle with a "girls" name, and he gets mail addressed to Mrs. So-and-So all the time. Must have been brutal in highschool.
But my perspective on MacKenzie is also North American, and it could very well be that the name would be well accepted for a boy in Australia.
All the best with your name hunt - I know it's hard!
I think of a girl. I know someone who named their son Mackinley and call him Mack for short.
Girl.
Definitely think of it as a girls name - now I've seen it so much!
Good luck with finding a name for your little prince, I bet your having so much difficulties with finding a name
Girl.
i think girl hunn xx
Personally I have never heard of this being used as a boys name so I automatically think girl.
Girl with the nickname Kenzie hehe. But also boy, but mostlly girl now.
definately a girl name
my first thought was 'whats the middle name?' lol so, in other words... i have no idea, and id be hoping for a clue as to whether it was a boy or girl!
yeah I think Girl also, with the nickname Kenzie....it's actually a name DH put on his list for girls names he likes. I actually think it looks girly too....sorry.
But FWIW, I love the name Mack, it would be no1 on our list if my sister didn't have her heart set on Max for if they have a boy.
I love Mack, but I dont like using "nicknames" for names... and I really cant find another mack name that I Love...
Oh well, it is as I assumed, just too feminised... Shame... think I am going to have to move on...![]()
Hun you go with what you and DP want![]()
It isnt an overly common name one way or the other. As a teacher I havent come across any Mackenzies boys or girls.
It is kind of like the name Ashley Could be girl or boy. If your son feels its not masculine enough then he can call himself Macca (which lets face it in high school thats what kids do- shorten names.
If you really love it and your DH does too then you name your little boy Mackenzie.![]()
Girl here! First I heard of it being used as a first name was when my sister used for her daughter, who is now 9.
Definately a girl, I hadn't even thought it could go for a boy but guess from other posts it can.
