Question What is the MEANING and is it fitting?

So did you ever KNOW the meaning of your childs name, was that a reason for picking it and does it fit their personality now?

    Mine are:

AVA LILLY - Ava is latin & means, like a bird , Lilly is old german and means industrious, strength.

I think her middle name is very fitting, she is very industrious and willing to find a way to do something, life a bird... could be the reason she tries to 'fly' off my couch...

ZARA GRACE - Zara means day's awakening, princess, light and Grace is blessing, grace.
Zara is a precious little princess very clingy, every child is a blessing so i think thats appropriate but i might need to let her own personality evolve before it comes a little clearer.

We didn't pick by meaning, we just liked the names so i wonder...

    Emerald Nevaeh Rose

EMERALD: English name derived from the name of the precious green gemstone, the birthstone of May, from Greek smaragdos, meaning "green gem." The emerald was once believed to have the power to protect chastity, ward off evil spirits, cure dysentery, epilepsy, and help poor eyesight.
NEVAEH: Modern English name created by spelling "heaven" backwards.
ROSE: Today, this English name is most often given as a flower name, or used as a short form of the herb name Rosemary. However, it was in use throughout the Middle Ages (long before herb and flower names became popular) and probably originated as a short form of longer Germanic names containing the word hrod, meaning "horse."

well, she is definitely our little "gem" - and reading further, she's doing her best to protect my chastity!! lol
Nevaeh was used to honor her angel siblings - she does that with every single breath she takes.
we used Rose for the plant reference - she is pretty, but *****ly when she wants to be - and she has a definite aroma sometimes....

    Hmm...
Jazmyne Louise - Jazmyne (Persian) Modern day spelling of Jasmine, meaning - flower. I named her for that reason. Jasmine is my favourite scent & it seemed perfect for a little girl
Louise (teutonic) famous in battle, warrior maiden. Hmm... she is very argumentative. Maybe I brought that on myself

Brianna Rose - Brianna (Gaelic) Strong, honourable, noble. Well she is a very strong willed child...
Rose (latin, french, scottish, greek) Named for the flower. Again, I think flower names are fitting for girls. Open & pretty iykwim.

Jesse Andrew - Jesse (Hebrew) Gift giver, wealthy. Lets hope so Just looked again & the meaning I found before, the reason I know they change, is Gods gift. He definetely is
    Andrew (Greek) Manly, courageous.

I think the meanings change depending what site I look at from memory. We chose their names because we liked tham, but I like the meanings behind them, especially DS's.
    They definetely suit them!

    Lily Kate:
Lily: Latin, meaning blossoming flower, the lily is a symbol of innocence and purity as well as beauty
Lilly is old german and means industrious, strength.
Hadn't ever read that, maybe it\s the different spelling, makes it a different meaning...?

    Kate: Celtic/Gaelic, meaning pure, viriginal.

That's my beautiful girl to a tee!

    Liam Jeffery:
    Liam: Gaelic, meaning Helmeted
    German, Will, desire and protection
    Hebrew, My people

    Jeffery: Germanaic/English/French, God's peace

LOL, helmeted? Well I guess he has a hard head...But he does have will when he wants something, and he protects his big sister against bullies. I have seen him push down a boy bigger than him for her. (Proud mummy moment, just quietly!!) I did make him help him up and say sorry though.

    DD1
Genevieve: Of the race of women. White wave. Saint Genevieve is the patron saint of Paris, believed to have protected Paris from Attila the Hun.
    Claudia: Lame

She is very feminine but also very strong-willed and protective so I think her first name does suit her. Not so sure about her middle name She certainly isn't lame and dances very well (maybe it suggests that she will inherit DP's sense of humour )

    DD2
    Juliette: Soft haired
    Nicola: People's victory

She certainly has lovely soft, fine hair so that suits her. She does often get her way and makes her desires known so she is pretty forceful in that sense. I think it suits her.

What is the MEANING and is it fitting?

We chose DD's name specifically because of it's meaning - Isabel means consecrated to God. We had a big scare around 12 weeks and we really feel we are so blessed that we have her with us. We wanted to acknowledge that if we could.

Her middle name is Dawn (meaning obvious) which we liked because I have an "auntie" Dawn (old friend of my mum's) who I have known all my life, but we also liked it because she was born at 5.45am.

DS might need to grow into his name a bit - Alexander means great leader!

    Nixon Milton
Nixon = Victory of the people, it derives from Nicholas therefore has the same meaning as Nicole. So Nix & i have the same name meaning and same initials NMP
Milton = from the Mill town. You know i have only just clicked on this but the house we were living at when he was born had a windmill house in our street?! it was one of a kind, an actual house with a huge wind mill on top, but Milton is my dads first name.
    Tyron James
Tyron = not a meaning for this the closest is Tyrone which means: From Owen's territory . His name suits him as in nick naming he is a Typhoon, Tybow, T-Rex, Tyranasaurus Rex etc!
He has the same initials as his dad TJP
    James = Supplant. Replace

Darcy means dark...and man she can be!

Nate means God has given - for him yes very fitting even though neither was named for the meaning. We thought we had lost him multiple times in his preg, then we thought we were going to deliver at 24 weeks, then my waters ruptured exactly at the same time my Godfather's funeral finished 600km away.
    His sister picked his name.

    Jackson.. son of Jack XD

But ZF, you have totally freaked me out now.

Jayvan.. we had chosen because I had seen it meant angel somehow (spelt "javan" but we chose to spell it how it is pronounced) but...

Javan is a son of Japheth, son of Noah. The descendants of Japheth occupy Europe and Asia Minor. Javan is the Biblical name for Greece.

The name Javan comes from (yavan 853) meaning mire (wet or soft mud; slush) and also the identical root (yavan 854) which yields derivation (yonah 854a) meaning dove (and the name Jonah).
    http://www.abarim-publications.com/Meaning/Javan.html

About three years prior to falling pregnant with Jayvan, I had a dove tattooed to my wrist... and after birthing Jayvan I had his name tattooed under it.

    hrmmm..

What is the MEANING and is it fitting?

Jade Freya... Jade was XPs choice (he dreamt of a girl called jade his whole life) and only meaning I can find is that of the jade stone.
Freya was a Norse goddess of love and beauty who took the slain warriors to their afterlife full of virgins I love Viking mythology and thinks it's a beautiful name but XP wouldn't let it be her 1st name

    This could take a while!!

    Aricyn Michael
Aricyn: Scandinavian meaning the Eternal King's son. DH may think he's the king, but really, everyone knows the Queen rules this house We liked it because of something that happened during my pregnancy and a consequent dream of mine, we felt that Aricyn was being looked after by a higher power. We changed the spelling because we thought it looked better with a y in it.
Michael: It is of Hebrew origin, and the meaning of Michael is "who resembles God?". Biblical: Michael is the archangel (chief or principal angel) who defeats the dragon. We chose it because DH was supposed to be called Michael when he was born, but his brother hated it, so he got called Craig instead - and DH absolutely loves Michael Jordan. But still, the fact that it still has something regarding a higher power in its meaning is pretty special I think.

    Mehkelti Addisyn Jayne:
Mehkelti: The meaning of the name Mykelti is Who Is Like God because it was created name by actor Mykelti Williamson from his first name and middle initial: "Michael T." We first saw it and thought the pronounciation was how we say it, not Michael T, so we fell in love with the name and changed the spelling to be how we said it. I sorta like the same link between her and DS though being a Michael, I think its cool.
Addisyn: Addisyn is a respelling of the surname Addison, which means 'son of Adam'. The creation has been influenced by the modern trend of replacing vowels with the letter Y, believed by some to "make a name (more) feminine". This is also touted as "making a name more unique", but in 2006 the spelling Addisyn shot out of nowhere to become the 612th most popular name for girls in the US.We liked how it rhymed with Aricyn, thought it connected the two children. We also liked the name of Grey's Anatomy. I don't think the son of Adam bit is really fitting
Jayne: meaning "God is Gracious". We added this name because I felt she was going to be my only girl, and Jayne is my middle name, my nan's middle name, and I wanted to keep it going. Now that she is here, not sure if it is fitting or not but we are very blessed to have her in our lives. A psychic told me some stuff about her yesterday that I believe, so I think she is a gift from the universe bestowed upon us.. so not sure if that helps with the meaning.. LOL

    Eden Elisabeth Grace:
Eden: Hebrew, meaning Delight. She truly is my little delight, she is very happy and enjoyable about 99% of the time DH found another meaning of it, being Place of Paradise - and we don't want her to be that for any teenage boys, but if she brings others comfort with her prescence, well thats pretty fitting I reckon.
Elisabeth: My God is a vow. Hmm.. well we're not religious but she might be!! We named her after my mum (Elizabeth) and changed the z to an s cos I think it looks prettier.
Grace: It is of Latin origin, and the meaning of Grace is "favor; blessing". She truly is our blessing, so yes, very fitting. But we actually named her that because DH's mum's middle name is Grace so I thought I would be fair and give both grandmothers a mention in her name.

We named our son "Cameron" because we liked the name. It means "crooked nose" which most definaltey does not apply to him.
