I didn't realise it was from the smurfs until I looked it up, was wondering how many people would remember it... Or if the name brings up any other images.

it does also conjur up some mystical aspects in my head. But I wonder if that is the smurfs link again? I also thought it was a more feminine name.

I'd go either Isaiah or Gabriel but not Azriel.

Ambriel is the guardian of gods garden - being Earth. Another option perhaps?

Sounds like the name of an angel.

Ok. Had a google. It seems to be the name of a number of well respected rabbis throughout history and means God's helper. I wouldn't dismiss it just because it is also the name of the angel of death. Death is part of life and I hope if I'm ever old and in pain, that an angel helps me find peace. Someone lifted my sons into their arms and cradled them for me. I like to think they found peace.

    I think it's a lovely name.

Is it from somewhere else? It sounds really familiar, but maybe that is the smurf thing?

    Gabriel is nice

If you're looking for an angel name, Raphael is one of my favourite names ever. Sadly dismissed by DH.

When ever I say it in my head it's comes out the way gargamel says it.

Which is long and high pitch.

So sorry I think smurfs too

I had similar thoughts about the whole angel of death thing... I love the way you articulated it though, thank you.

    I like it

I did think smurfs, but that alone wouldn't stop me using the name
