    Would this be confusing

Just been thinking, for a girls name I like Poppy

BUT my dad is referred to as pop, or poppy.. would it be confusing on a LO if poppy referred to two people, and later on for the little girl to think he name was the same as a man's...

    does that even make sense???

There is a little girl at childcare called Poppy and I have always loved that name and came across your 'dilemma' when I was talking to DD about Poppy and wondered if she was confused about who I was talking about. I think it is what you get used to though so I would still use it even though there would be more than one Poppy in the family

My DD2 is Poppy and one of the boys in my DD1's class (grade 3) turned to his mum and said 'but she doesn't look anything like my poppy!'.

Nah, I don't think it would be confusing. If you like it, go for it!

I love it too, but that was the exact reason we crossed it off our list.

Pop/Poppy is already etched for my dad (10years) and my grandfather too now that I think of it ... other side is Pa

DH wasn't keen on it but his reasoning was illogical

Anyway, thanks for the input... Poppy is less common than Mia... random thoughts

I love the name Poppy...so pretty.
I think these thing have a way of working themselves out so it is not so confusing.
I think if you love the name go for it.

Poppy is a flower so if she ever wonders why her and poppy have the same name you can say because they are both as sweet as flowers.
Within your immediate family she will be poppy her own name, around her friends she will be a little girl with a beautiful name.
Around poppy you can have big poppy and little poppy.
