The same thing happened to me Vixtar. My DH introduced himself to me as the shortened version of his name but his family call him by his full name. They hve never said anything to me about it though. My son has a longer name which can be shortened, we always call him by the longer name but his friends use the shortened version all the time. It doens't bother me, we were going to call him by the shortened version but just never have.
