A friend has a son called Satchen, i have never thought it was a wierd name.

Tallulah reminds me of the parents who called their kid 'Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii' and she went to court to get her name changed.

Talullah is very sweet, but for me a Satchel is an object for carrying things around in (what would nicknames be? Sat? Satchy? IDK!)

If Satchel didn't mean "school bag" then I'd love it. Just the meaning thing means it doesn't work for me. Talullah is a great sounding name.

But hey, I like Satchen / Sachin, for a boy, as in the bowler Sachin Tendulkar. And I'm sorry but I don't like Tullulah.

Would most kids nowadays even know what a satchel is?? And when their class is full of a whole bunch of other unusual names, will they even bother teasing Satchel?? I think it's the kids' parents who'll be doing the teasing... it's like at school when a kid introduces their parent to a friend, it's always the parent that does the double-take on the name.. "What's your name again?" "Who thought of that name?" or the ever popular "What an UNusual name!"

It wouldn't make my favourite names list, but I think the whole "they'll get teased" argument is redundant these days....

You do realise people will bag her at school??? You know how kids carry on.

Maybe you should have a back up just in case

    Sorry, couldn't resist

    I don't mind it but I wouldn't use it...

I don't believe that getting teased is redundant. Kids will work out the connection to satchel by about 12 if not earlier.

Nope - dislike it! I asked my 5yo what a satchel was and she knew so I think kids will work it our pretty quickly. It reminds me of Michael Jackson's kid "Blanket".

Tallulah I like - Tallulah Bankhead was an awesome, witty actress in the 1920's so it has good connotations for me

Satchel - I dislike it. I also agree that kids will work out pretty quickly the meaning of 'satchel'.

Sachin- I like (for a boy, not a girl).

    Tallulah is a pretty name.

Pffffft to people will tease her. If anybody ever suggests Angus, nobody mentions that it's only one letter different from Anus. Kids will find a reason to tease, so what-frickety-ever.

That said, I don't like it. It doesn't go with Hannah. Tallulah is a better match. Keep hunting, there's plenty of time.
