If you were getting a ring sling or carrier purely for putting your newborn in to go from the car into school to pick up other LOs and then straight back to the car again, would you all still suggest the close carrier? I'm seriously unco-ordinated and it seems like a bit of wrapping and tying (although not as much as hugabub or similar).

I was thinking about getting the sakura bloom sling - thought it would be really quick to get on, get bub in and get out of again. I have an ergo that I will use when she's bigger, but want something quick and easy for the early months.

Sorry to hijack Elocin, but you've asked pretty much what I was going to ask ;-)
I was getting in and out of the car with (ironically looking for another car) and I loved my close carrier then - I didn't worry about the extra piece of material to wrap around the outside. I just left the cc on loosening it to take ds out and tightening it when putting ds in

I borrowed a hug-a-bub from my SIL and almost have the hang of it. Teddy goes straight to sleep

I can't speak from experience, but for some reason I feel more confident/comfy with that style rather than a sling.

E - just get 'em all!

I think that's what DH is afraid of.

I had to explain the difference between the Ergo, the Close Carrier and a sling last night. Bless him... he just smiled and walked away shaking his head. I think he's given up considering I change my mind so often
Ha ha. That's my DH when it comes to me and prams. Not sure I can put the poor love through it with carriers too but hey, what doesn't kill you makes you stronger right?!?!

I bought the most gorgeous Sakura Bloom silk sling on eBay last night. After seeing the cost of the "designer" silk ones brand new I knew I could never buy one so I couldn't resist a bargain for a near new one. And who knows. When it arrives and bub arrives, and I can't put the two together, I'll just HAVE to go otu and buy a close carrier too!
