Teni - it's just different carriers for different folks. The Manduca does look very tempting, I've seen a couple of demos lately.
pixie - Can you carry high, above your bump? I haven't really thought about how I'll babywear while pregnant! I'm an over-the-shoulder girl, and DD loves it. But I've always been pretty confident about rough play and upside-downsies.
Jen - Jim is in the post! He's ace for hip carries. He ain't no Vat 3 (I cannot even begin to explain how much I regret selling that) but he's pretty good. My DH only uses the pram for groceries and stuff. When DD was tiny, she hated the pram, awake or asleep, so he would pop her in the Close, then push the pram up to the farmers markets, and bring all the vegies home in it, getting plenty of comments about how he must have his hands full. Which he did. Full of fresh produce.
the manduca looks like it's a different shape...? don't know. I've only tried two SSCs and declared myself a buckle-hater (I'm sure there's one out there that's perfect for me, but I can't be bothered kissing all the frogs).

KF was your DS sitting quite low? I found the ergo carries low on the back - maybe if the waist buckle is done up higher he might be happier? or anyway it can take some getting used to if they've not been up there before.
ETA - oh, that one that's been for sale for a while? why don't you get it and see? I've been wondering about a wool blend, but I dunno.... Also wondering about a 3.... lol I sold all my shorties! silly me.
Okay, I think I need to now disconnect from my wrap buying and just practice with what I've got for a while. The only size I don't have is 5 and 7 and I can't see myself needing a 5 with two 4s and two 6s. I wouldn't know what to do with a 7! What is it good for (apart from testing your coordination to the max, I assume)?
I found my HAB for DD1, although not recommended for toddlers, absolutely fine right up until I stopped wearing her (around two). She was a feather weight of a child though. So I'm guessing even the wraps that are not as supportive would depend on the wrapper and the wrappee. My wovens are def more supportive, but I wasn't wearing DD1 very much at all once she started running around at 11 mths.
This baby I can see being totally happy to be worn until she starts school. She's a completely different baby already.
I have just bought a close carrier second hand on gum tree, can't wait until it arrives. I didn't wear dd1 but got a baby hawk Mei tai for dd2 and it was one of the best purchases. The new pram with toddler seat was a big waste of money as I could count on one hand the number of times I used it! Dd2 would sleep within five minuts of being popped in the Mei tai. I have tried using it twice with dd3 but can't get it to work as well so I've splurged and got the close carrier. With two other littlies I can see baby wearing will be even more necessary than previously.

You do NOT need a 7 Jen. I like 4s and now find anything longer a pain though a do own 2 5s and a 6 lol. I think it's a good idea to take a breather and see how you go with what you've got
