Ppl do sometimes ask but I can get it done pretty quickly so I'm more likely to get admiring comments now.
Great pic TC! My m/w posted a photo on FB with DD on my back in a beanie she made her. Must put it here.

DD2 in a ruck sack back carry with my Oscha sz 2.
These pics are just gorgeous! I will have to work out how to post one!

I love how the little ones are just peaking out, like a little cave they are so safe and snug and happy yet at the same time can see the world! its like they all have a little secret ;)
Well, my ergo is sold :) Now to sell the breeze baby and then I will be looking at a kleinsmekker MT that I'm thinking about buying tomorrow. DH has said I'm allowed to have 4 carriers not including "his" beco. I think he might be worried I'll take over the house if I start wrapping - but one of the girls borrowed DS for a demo-baby and he loved being snuggled up in there, so I'm thinking of giving it a go.
:D
Guess I"ll be seeing you tomorrow CK.
Mmmm, guessing so - I'll be a little late though, chiro appointment first thing. Need to fix my back that's constantly being dodgyfied by Mister's bad booby manners
does anyone know if the headrest for the standard manduca has a pocket for it to fold into - or does it just tuck away into somthing else?
there is a fb comp to win a manduca and i am trying to find the 5 diffs bewtween standard and the limited edition
It has a little pocket just under the headrest on the outside it folds into with Velcro to keep it in place.
thanks, i think that is the same with the limited edition one.. i found couple other differences so got 4 out of 5, and you only need 2 to enter so all good.
My Ergo carrier is still MIA and i told DH that if we can't find it by this weekend i am going to by a new one. My Close Carrier is good, but DS is getting a bit heavy for it (for me). I am looking at getting a Manduca (rather than another Ergo). What do you think?
I like the Manduca a lot, though the fit and comfort is vary personal, I like with Manduca everything is 'built in' and in the price no extras to buy, and the extra body height is great. Much more adjustable/tweak-able too.
I've heard nothing but good things about the Manduca. Haven't tried one myself though.
I've just sold my ergo sport as it wasn't getting used much after I got the beco. And now the beco is DH's and I have switched to a super comfy kleinsmekker - yes I did wind up buying it, fell in love as soon as I tried a back carry with it :)
I loooove my Manduca, well really it's DH's Manduca but I'm using it ATM. It's so comfy and supportive, ds is happy in it for hours and it's just the right size to roll up and fit down the bottom of my nappy bag. Definitely worth it'd weight in gold IMO.
Excuse my sucky spelling, I'm on my iPhone
Is anybody selling a Manduca or similar? I didn't win the Mother Day comp :shakehead:
Ooops, I fell over and bought a wrap. Well, organised to pay it off at least....now to learn to use one!
Hooray, DH gave me a ring sling for mothers' day! Beautiful bright colours and I'm getting the hang of wearing DD over my belly. She was happy as a pig in mud in the supermarket this morning, she hates the stroller and tbh so do I. Soooo much better :)
What a great Mothers Day present!
I also accidentally bought a Storch Ulli sz 6 on the weekend. I'll count it as my Mothers Day present from Hannah. I've been wanting to try a Storch for ages and none of my IRL babywearing pals have one.
Ok ladies... Hit me with your recommendations for a ring sling.
We both love the Ergo but I want something I can just throw on if I'm running into the shops.
Mine is a wrap conversion by Keonislings - made from a girasol wrap. Really comfy to wear and super soft (mind you, I got it second hand so it's been well broken in) - DS loves it.
I just vacuumed and tidied my house while wearing DS in my kleinsmekker - that's a workout and a half, DS is 9.5kg
DH bought me a Mamaway ring sling. I don't have anything to compare it to and obviously it is a day old so I can't comment on how it has broken in! But the colours are heavenly and it's working well so far. Had to duck back out to the shops this afternoon and also brought the washing in with her in it this afternoon. Oh my gosh I have missed wearing her!
DD's newest sentence: "pretty sling." More like "pitty shing", but hey, she's 18 months old :) she grins and pats it when she says it too!
that's great pixie! it looks lovely and it's obviously working well for you!
There are heaps of slings around - if you can, it's always good to try a few things before you buy.
I got a new carrier! It is a SSC called a Scootababy. It's kinda Ergo-ish, but has one top strap instead of two. It is great for a hip carry but you can do front of back carry too. 2379
My Ergo is still MIA, but i am hoping now that i have bought a new one it will reveal itself.
Got my Storch in the mail today. It's my first stripes! I'm wearing it tomorrow. It's a sz 6, so didn't need another, but I've wanted to try one.
I'll take a pic. ;)
2 more weeks and I'll have my first wrap - it's a size 6 melody. Very pretty.
My little boy is such a flirt when he's on my back. He looks around, smiles at everyone and lays his cheek on my back and looks at people from under his long eyelashes. And I get so many comments about the kleinsmekker because I seem to be deep in the heart of bjorn territory - let's face it, bjorn colours are boring :)
oh cool, I've heard they're great for hip carries.
no one ever comments on my pretty wraps. the most comments I ever got about a carrier was when I used a breeze baby sling when DD was little.
It amuses me because the girls in my mothers group are mostly the fashionable bjorn user types. They've seen a few of my carriers and a few seem pretty interested, especially since they're all complaining about how much their backs hurt. They were intrigued watching me scoot DS onto my back though - he was cackling and laughing because he thinks it's great fun.
And then I get the checkout lady in Woolies asking why I don't put him in one of the trolley seats - she had no answer when I said that he couldn't go to sleep sitting in a trolley :)
Lol CK, good response!
That's a shame, MadB, 'cause you have a lovely collection. Opposite here, I get stopped all the time and lots of comments from friends and strangers. Especially if I'm wearing a new one.
Like today...

I know, right, I mean look at this :)

yours looks beautiful MadB! so soft and bright! =)
yep. it's a fantastic wrap. very, very exxy though as it's hand woven and also quite hard to get a hold of.
So pretty - and your little one is such a darling with that big smile :)
Gorgeous MadB! (you and your little one of course ;)) What wrap is that?
Heartiness Turquoise black
hi! so I'm bored.. and thought playing with baby things might coax Spock into wanting to come out to play with me...
but here is a photo of me in my fave wrap (I have...not that I have ever used it for reals..), and in the only wrap I know how to do quickly and confidently...
so: a wrapped bump! 2383
Ha ha. Must be the day for it Teirae - I've been doing exactly the same thing.
A question for the expert ladies . . . I have a sakura bloom ring sling that I'm hoping I can master for easy school drop offs and pick ups. Is a tummy to tummy carry ok for a seriously brand new baby, or should I use a cradle carry? Also, in a cradle carry does her head go near the rings, or is that the "foot" end?? From what I've seen, it seems variable so not sure if that's because heaps of people do it wrong, or if its because you can do it either way.
I've got an ergo with both versions of the infant insert (only had the old style one for DD2 so only cradle carried her when she was tiny), but I figure (read hope) the ring sling will be much quicker to throw on and off for quick trips.
Looking very nice T!
Yes, tummy to tummy is aces for newborns :) it can be easier to master than the cradle for some mums, in fact. I have never been able to do a cradle carry, so can't help with that, sorry. I thought it was ring end, but really don't know.
The RS probably will be quicker once you've got it figured out. Try both and see, perhaps?
Now, must close for new thread. :)
