its a woven, the one you sold me actually =P
Thought it might be. in that case def just seat her a bit lower and leave enough to pull over her head a bit. Looks lovely on you both!

Phew MadB, thought I might be missing out on a really good one.

    Hi lovely ladies

I need your advice! My almost three-month-old DD has launched a revolt against the Hug-a-Bub and my beloved Ergo. She refuses to sleep in them and seems to get claustrophobic if I try to tuck her head in. She relaxes as soon as she can look around but cries as she becomes tired (won't nap in my arms either, sob!).

I reckon she might like some sort of back carrier, so she can see her surroundings but still be close without me being in her face if she gets sleepy.

What would you recommend? Bearing in mind that I'm pretty unco...

Ergo is great on the back if you have it already... but she is still pretty young for that. At this age the best back option would be a woven wrap but there is a learning curve..

Back carry sounds like it might do the trick, Buffy. My DD2 is 5 mths and loves being on my back where she can look around.

Gave out a couple of bwing cards to two quite keen Mums at my postnatal exercise class and last one to a church Mum. They were each pretty keen to give wrapping a go. I love that some Mums I actually know are interested, not just random ppl at the shopping centre. Lots of South Africans around here though, so they are very familiar with bwing and most talk about how their children (now grown up) were worn by nannies.

Thanks all. Is three months too young for back carry in the Ergo? Their website says no...?

Bid on a Babyhawk Mei Tai on eBay, will give that a go before I tackle woven wraps.

    Hot1, so cute!

Buffy there's also a bwing buy swap sell group that has Mei Tais for sale. PM me or pretty much any of the others on here for the link. You could also post a wanted in the buy, swap, sell on BB.

it probably is buffy, because the body is a bit short and doesn't offer much head & neck support.

I believe the ergo also sits too low for bubs to be able see over your shoulder. But plenty of the girls on the BWBSS page will be able to help with advice on other carriers.
I'm getting pretty comfortable with back carries now. Have done it in public with DH spotting and showing off with family visiting here last week . DD2 gets excited when I lay her on the wrap now too which is so cute to see. Is 5 months too young to do a superman toss? DD1 asked to go up and it was so easy that I've started doing it with DD2. She seems to love it but she still seems so delicate.

Also I've now mastered FWCC, DH and ruck. What other carries are useful with size 4 or 6 wraps?

    Noob warning!

ok, this is going to be pic heavy, sorry, if it is too pic heavy let me know and i'll get rid of them. But I thought i would try out my other slings today. Mainly my ring sling... its a 'bubbalugga', and has padded edges, I was never too keen on it cause i feel uncomfortable with how bub lays in them, i feel their necks aren't supported, and dont like how they fold around them. so i will probably save it for when she can sit and use it as a quick hip carry.. but thought i would give it a go, because it would be handy for a really quick carry, eg just popping into the post office or something.

so I put her in, and have it so her neck isnt squished, and it doesnt fold around her...and she seemed happy and comfy, but i dont think it is right, it doesnt look right... how does one use a ring sling???

..maybe instead of putting pictures in here, im going to try and put them in my album. https://www.bellybelly.com.au/forums.../baby+wearing/
ok, so there are photos of the ring sling from top (my pov) the front and the side.

Ive also got a couple of photos in there of my other wrap (bali one - not sure the exact name...i can find out though). i feel she might still be too high, how do i get her lower?

    THANKS!!!!

Teirae, my slings don't have the padding around the rails and I use the heart to heart or tummy to tummy position.

I've been doing the superman toss with DD2 for at least a month. She's 5 mths now. Before that I shuffled her up by going under my armpit. She gets excited when I lie her on the wrap too.

i'm not an expert, but they both look ok to me.

This is the ticks guidelines for babywearing (in front carries, anyway).
Generally, if it feels 'right' and comfortable, then it's probably good.

Heee, I got to wrap a snuggly 12 week old girl today. So much lighter than my big wriggly boy.

Thanks jen. Good to know. I figured she'd let me know if she didn't like it. I'd been doing a santa toss until she got too wriggly.

Teirae, my girls have always been happier upright so I used the tummy to tummy position. The cradle hold never felt right to me either.

My first wrap is in the mail - thanks Sterla!! I'm

Questions for you experts in the meantime:

How much difference is there between a double hammock and secure high back carry? Is one more snug and/or easier to do? I like the look of both on the Youtube tutorials I've seen, maybe I need to try them both out....? My DD has very good head control but I do want to give her some support if she gets tired, especially at such a young age. Wondering if double hammock would be better for cold weather too...?

Do you find it easier to do superman/santa toss or hip wiggle around to the back? Again, what would you suggest for a little, wiggly bubba?

Woohoo! The Perth Babywearers are doing the City to Surf We're doing the 4km walk together to raise money for Miracle babies and I can't wait! Going to be so much fun, but I have to decide between now and August (ha) what carrier to use - oh the decisions!
