What do all of you use for bags when wearing? I've been using my normal handbag but it kills after a little while. I've seen a few on bags on the Internet and I've also seen patterns for them, but I don't sow. I'm not overly desperate right now, but we are going to Thailand at the end of the year and I want something soft that I can fit the basics in that won't hurt or keep falling off.

you could prob get something to fit, or made up, in thailand!
i like the one long strap worn diagnally. my current bag is from cambodia, long strap, quite soft (no structured) so can go over baby or across my chest below baby s face.

I cheated and bought a slingyroo bag - I love it. And not just because it's made from Northern Lights so it matches my wrap - it also fits a surprising amount of crap and is really comfy to wear. The strap is long enough to go across my body under Alex's butt and can be adjusted to the length I want via the sling rings on the end.

I use a bum bag if I go walking, I bought one of those traveling ones with extra secure straps. Otherwise, a backpack is my nappy bag and I put my purse in that. Or if I'm not taking more than phone and keys, pockets or stuffed in the front of a double hammock wrap.

i just carry my purse and have keys n phone in my pocket. my handbag tho has a long strap that i can put over a shoulder and across my chest under bub, but only done that once. my nappy bag is just a cheap backpack too so easy as i am only front carring atm
can you buy half buckles anywhere? the only ones ive seen are WC that are custom and expensive and seem impossible to get...

I really want a bag made from a wrap too. I have a lenny lamb here, well scraps of one, to turn into a bag but I still want a ’proper’ one lol

Try bamberoo oc. Make sure it's the oc site. I emailed and had a custom half buckle made in just a couple of weeks for about $190 posted. And they are super comfy. Same as bamberoo but made in the old continent, hungary, hence the oc.

i got a recent ergo, then had to send it back and got a new one. also got an old style ergo (maybe 5 years old) and it is amazing how different they feel. the older way has a shorter waist band but feel so comfy. the new one not so much. has anybody else found this?
i also found difference in feel between the 2 'new' ones i had. not sure if they wear in or if slight diffs in manufacture make a big difference.

My Ergo has a little pocket but Im thinking about getting the backpack that can attach to it.
question..I LOVE my ergo but am really interested in a sling as well. Any recommendations?

I have the ergo backpack, it's useful for front carries and hanging from the pram for a long trip, but I found it a bit tricky to use in a back carry as I didn't like having bag and bub on the same side - Alex is boof enough as it is without adding weight. Has heaps of handy pockets and stashy spots though, so hanging onto it, might see how it goes with a wrap one of these days.
As for getting a sling as well - what sort of sling would you be looking at? Are we talking ring sling, woven wrap, other?

I dont know much about slings so please share your knowledge! I had a hotsling with DD1 and really disliked it. I like the idea of a ringsling...and whats a woven?

Woven wraps are the really long pieces of woven fabric that you tie around yourself and bub - makes them really flexible as you can do front, back and hip carries with them depending on the way you tie them, and different fabrics have different properties as well.
Ring slings are pretty cool too, I love mine for quick trips into the shops and such as it's usually easier than mucking about with the pram. As far as recommendations go, with you being in the States I'd suggest having a look at Paxbaby. Heaps of info and articles, plus loads of pretty things to lust after

HotI, you are so right about the ergos! My one is close to five years old and I tried a friends new one the other day and it doesn't feel nearly as good.
Anyone have vatanai experience? Im thinking of getting one for our trip to Thailand as they are known to be light weight. I only want to do single layer carries with it though, so 4m in length at the most. Would it hold up well enough?
