I must admit I just tried to go with minimal baggage with the HUB or make DH carry the bag! I could only store a small stash of things in the pocket and just a small over the shoulder handbag if i really needed to. A really big bumbag type thing could work i suppose and the backpack too. The over the shoulder nappy bags would def be too heavy and you would probably hurt yourself. The specific bag suse mentioned sounds good though, I might have to look into that for next time.
I recently bought a Ju-Ju-Be "BeLight" nappy bag as I had read that it was a great compact bag for babywearing. Very similar concept to the Onbag. It has straps that can be tied any way your choose. The BeLight is reversible as well, so kinda like two bags in one. I certainly am keen to have a go at making an Onbag though as they have a very good pattern on their site!
bronners - the juju be bag has the tying straps - but it doesn't have the loops at the base of the bag, does it?
The advantages of the onbag is that the straps are much wider, so they work in the same way as a wrap does (in terms of comfort), and the loops at the base of the bag allow the ties to be threaded through - so that it can be worn like an onbuhimo - effectively it's a bag that can be worn like a carrier.
I had a small backpack nappy bag by Emmaljunga. It was not too big and still had enough space for my purse, phone, etc, in the front pocket. Lightweight and dark blue, so it didn't stand out! I'll definintely be using the same thing next time.
Suse - no, my ju ju bag doesn't have the loops at the bottom. Yes I can certainly see the benefits of the onbag - they look great! I think I might make myself one as an extra nappy bag!
